Yup, nothing special. I got a new Smith and Wesson Model 637 Airweight .38. Great concealed carry handgun and great for home defense. This little sucker packs a punch for such a light handgun and is easy enough for my wife to use. It also handles +P rounds that my Charter Arms .38 did not. Here’s a pick:

Thanks to the pile of shit waiting law I can't pick it up until Tuesday so other than my rifle, I'm home defenseless until Tuesday...bummer.

I can't wait to take it out to the range and break it in.

Nice gun. I have been debating a wheel gun, all mine are auto's. 3 day wait? No CCW?

Very nice choice! If your buying a revolver, you can't go wrong with a Smith and Wesson.

I have one... sweet wheelgun. I could never sell it because I love the trigger action so much.

My mum hated the idea of having guns in the house but even she liked that one. I think she was as sad as I was when I sold it. I even shot my best centrefire score with that baby. 597/600

Very nice, I think revolvers are better than semi's in intimidation factor, especially a large caliber snubby where whoever you're pointing it at can see the bullet in the chamber. Perconally if I was going to carry I'd buy this.

To be honest with you, I’m not a fan of composite frame handguns. I’ve shot many from HK, to Glock and the new Springfield Armory series and they never shoot like a full metal bodied handgun. Most have fat grips, are really wide and are horribly top heavy. For home defense/simplicity there’s no substitute for a revolver. 100% failsafe. IF the trigger is not pulled or the hammer is not ****ed it will not go off. An automatic can be loaded and ****ed and not show it. Any pressure to the trigger will shoot it off.

Personally, I prefer an automatic. Especially a .45. Like stated above it is great for my wife to use, is simple and packs a punch.

Geeze, it censored me..... I typed ****ed and apparently I can't. Insert "Hammer pulled back" for the censored word.

Nice. My wife and I decided on the Ruger SP101 .357 snub nose for her. About the same size as yours but the bigger caliber... but only 5 rounds. Sits a little flatter in her purse or butt pack.
But like the other guy said, ya really can't go wrong with a S&W.

Nice gun. I carry a Glock 26 when out of the home, although it is within easy access in my home as well.

For home defense though, the absolute best weapon is a 12gauge shotgun with a short barrell and buck shot. You dont have to be a great shot to hit your target, the rounds wont go through all your walls and kill your neighbor and if you shoot someone at close range with a 12ga.... they wont be coming back for more!

Not to mention the sound of a shotgun being pumped will send cold chills down the back of ANY burglar.

+1

I keep a Mossberg 500 with the pistol grip always loaded with 00 buck because I live in a townhouse. I could just imagine some unfortunate fool hauling ass back out whatever door or window he came in when he heard that unmistakeable "clack-clack".

Nice gun and I'm sure you will be happy with it. However, it is too bad you have to wait a few days to pick it up because as we all know, the invasion has already begun.

I hate to say it, but you will be the first to die because you did not have this gun yet. Sorry man.

Listen, I bought a handgun and traded in another from it. I had a gun, now I don’t. It’s that simple. How would you like to buy a TV and than walk away form the store for 3 days for no reason? I bought it, it’s mine and I’d rather not drive another 60 mile round trip to get it on Tuesday.

Again, bravo on the intelligent response. I sport shoot, this is Labor day weekend, my father is here from out of town. I wanted to go target shooting (if you’re REALLY that interested in my answer).

Waiting periods are retarted, plain and simple. If you passed a background check why should you have to wait to get something you now own. Silly anti's.

The odds of his house being broken into today are just as high as they were yesterday. Now he doesn't have a gun to protect his family. I see the problem.

you may see a problem....its too bad you dont read, though. if all youre worried about is family protection for a few days until the background check is over there is the rifle, which is slightly more intimidating than the pistol.

Nice revolver, smokehouse.

I recently picked up a S&W 686 with the two and a half inch barrel. Not to rub it in your face or anything, but this is how it works where I live:

1. Go to county sherrif's office and apply for permit to purchase a handgun. If you pass the background check, you give them $10.00 and walk out with your permit. Total time, about ten minutes.

2. Go to whatever gun store you want, purchase the handgun you want, give the seller your permit and money.

3. Go home with your weapon.

It took me all of an hour and a half, between obtaining the permit, driving time, picking out and testing the S&W.

The county just to the south of me makes you wait seven days for the permit...

"Cooling off" waiting periods for firearm purchases are an annoyance for law-abiding citizens and a non-issue for the criminally inclined.

Here's how it works where I live. Walk in the door, show a Driver License and proof of your address. Hand the guy the money and leave with your gun and carry it on your waist. Just apply for a conceal and carry permit later.

6 minute instant backgroudn check

You can't go wrong with a 38/357 wheelgun for self-protection. Less prone to jam, easy drill, and plenty of power with +P rounds.

No waiting here. Just pass the Federal and State background check, pay the man, and off you go.

Let's see....there are approximately 300 million people in the USA. If there are 200 million guns in the USA, I think we need another 100 million to make us safer :)

If it were up to me, I would arm every family.

Sorry. I posted this thread on another forum and met with mouthy foreigners. They were giving me the “The problem with crime in the US is guns” shit and I was irritated.

The comment that keeps coming up is the “Now I’m defenseless” statement.

Amongst “gun guys” they know what this means. Do I really think that my home is going to get broken into in the next few days? No. Am I really that paranoid? No. What irritates me is that I traded one handgun in on another yet I have to wait 3 days to pick it up due to a “cool down” period. I find this amusing figuring that I had a gun in hand Friday morning. If I wanted to kill/rob/hurt I would have done it then. I am also fully registered through the state and through the Illinois State Police.

Oh, and being a mouthy internet poster is nothing close to having a temper capable causing bodily harm to someone.
