That girl was CRAZY!! She was a hoopin' and hollerin' the whole time. Then her and the guy to her right got into a play fight about who's driver was better and they ended up threatening to kick each other's butt's. Then they started a contest to see who could drink the most.

After the first top fuel qualifications they left and said they'd be back, but they never did. I'm assuming they passed out. ROFL!!!

Did anyone happen to see the 70'ish y/o lady sitting down from us? She looked like Barbara Bush with the snow white hair & in her Sunday best clothes. She wasn't even wearing earplugs...even during the top fuel runs. LOL!!

I do, so I can still hear when I'm 60. Talking to Fred, they get tested every year by NHRA to make sure they aren't damaging their hearing. Dumbest thing in the world to not wear some type of hearing protection.

Yes, my Dad and I talked quite a bit with her and her husband. Great people. They've been going to that race for 46 years and been in the same seats for the last 15. When they cars lit up and went down the track they both plugged their ears with their fingers.

FWIW, I was only joking. I know it's better to wear the plugs. However, I've been going to these races for too many years to start now. Started as a punk kid being a "go-fer" for a local guy's super gas team. Always loved the sound of the unmuffled big block. Still get a thrill from the ear splitting launch of a fuel car. Guess I'll never grow up. :o

I wish I would have when I was young..after going to these races for 35 years with no plugs I actually wore them this time...I am so deaf..of course playing in rock bands for 30 years didn't help either!
