I am finally fed up with the stock rubber!!!! On my other cars I am running Michelin tires and they are great. SUV and passanger tires are great quality.

I am looking at these tires
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/filterTireProduct s.do?rc=CAOINT&yr=2005&c=1&cf=false&sw=false&rf=true&rcz=92649&mk=PONTIAC&cs=245&dVeh=dVeh&rd=17&vid=008805&ar=45&ct=&fcb=*&fcpr=7&fcsr=*&fclr=*&x=41&y=1

I know they are pricy but I do not mind paying for a high quality tire.

Questions are.
Will they give me acceptable traction off of the line as opposed to a DR without sacrificing the handeling. Are they noisy?? I will keep OEM size

Any oppinions would be appreciated

Thanks

No.! They are a road tire only. I have had mine for 28 K mi. and they wear like iron. But they spin like crazy. I have the A/S 's in 245/40x18 on 18x7.5 rims. No rub even with passengers. I've been thinking about the Goodyears. Geat lookng tire. I have Nitto DR's on the stock 17's for the track. PIA always changing wheels but to get traction you have to give up treadlife. DR's on the street are tough to control if it's even a little wet.

I recently bought Michelin Sport PS2s, had 19k miles on stock tires. I've had them about 2 weeks, they handle excellently, wet or dry. Car is driving like new again. Road noise is much much less.
Note that they are not recommended for snow/ice.

Thanks, I am not considering all season tires due to I live in so cal. I am refering to the soft rubber ~180-220 UTG

Specifically I was refering to these

I would go with the Pilot Sport PS2's. They are newer and better then the standard Pilot Sport's. I had the PS2's on my Acura TSX before I had the Goat and they were great. They are compairable to the Potenza S-03's in the dry and the wet, but the PS2's I thought had better wear.

The PS2 is Michelins highest performance street tire. They are the newest of the Pilot Sport line and they are the best. They are a asymetrical tire meaning they can only be mounted one way and are not directional. The PS2 is the quietest performance tire you can buy for this reason. You can rotate the PS2 which is what makes them quiet. I am a certified Michelin sales person so I know quit a bit about them. The Pilot Sport A/S is a great tire due to its winter weather traction but does not perform as well as the PS2.
If you buy any Michelin you will be happy, but if you are looking for the quietest best dry weather performance tire made buy the PS2

Oh yea Costco is the cheapest place to buy them, after you take into consideration of buying them online and paying to have them mounted and balanced. They also have the best costumer service and road hazard plan out. If you are not happy with them you can return them.

The Ps2's and the Goodyear GS-D3's are the highest performing wet/dry tires out there today. I would also add in the Bridge RE-01's and the Yoko Advan Neovas but those two are much more total performance tires where as the Ps2's and GS-D3's are the overal performance champions. They have tested well in every single magazine and tire test I have seen. Not that the GTO board should base decisions of other manufacturers, but the BMW crowd uses these two tires almost exclusivly (except for the Toyo T1R's).
