Well this morning I put new ARP wheel studs on the rear of my 2005 GTO (#100-7708). They went in without a hitch, I actually have a new impact wrench that's rated pretty strong and I was able to zip them on using an old lug nut and few washers in a matter of minutes.
I have a set of 235/60/15 BFG drag radials mounted on my 15x8 Weld Pro Stars (5.5" backspacing). They fit fine, but I was hoping the slimmer 235 tire would tuck up inside the wheel wells. Unfortunately, I tested it out in my driveway by brake torquing it and the fenders hit when the rear squats down. So I'm almost ready to race, just gotta put the air bags in the rear springs. Hopefully this is all I'll need to do! I'm ready to race in this cool weather!!

Why do all that for 235s when you can fit 275s on a stock rim?

using a 15" drag radial will hook better than a 17", but the main thing is the weight reduction by using Weld wheels. I need all the help I can get reducing the weight of this pig!

correct me if i'm wrong...but i don't believe you can get 17 inch wrinkle walls :) at least not to fit under our fenders w/ out jackin up the back end

why not just buy 17" drag radials on the stock rims? no rubbing and will hook just as good! plus the weight on the rear axle will not affect you that much, i would worry about the front rims for rolling mass and launch weight first. or just put a bigger system on it? :gears:

Sounds like an awful lotta work for what.....1.8 60's if you're an M6 at best. Unless of course, you REALLY know how to row that gearshift then what? 1.6 60's.....I have MT ET Street DR's on the stock 17's and with 17PSI can cut 1.6 60's all day long (on an A4 though). Bet I'll get a 1.5 next Sunday......

I don't know anyone 'rowing' in the 60' that isn't either short shifting or smoking em--either way is not optimal to your 60' or 1/4 times.
I do agree with you on the 15" vs. 17" though...our 3 quickest Norcal guys are M6 and two of them have broken into 1.7x with 17" DRs.

He has an automatic. I don't understand the debate, a 15" drag wheel and tire is better than any 17 or 18" package.
