Has anyone put BFG kdws 255's on their goat? I need to replace my 2 rears for the winter. I have the stockers for the front. The 255's are actually 10.00 cheaper. Thanks.

I think they will fit without rubbing issues, but are not recommended on an 8" wheel.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
Update: mfr specs say 8 - 9.5 in. rims. Are ours 8"? and if so does anyone see any problems? My driving is mostly highway. 70 - 80 mph.

I have BFG kdws 255's on my other car on 18" X 8" rim. No problem with them on 8" rim. I don't know if the 255 will go in front of GTO without a problem tho, I'm still running stock tires on GTO.

Thanks. I'm only replacing the rears. My summer tires are F1 eagles gs-d3 but I go back to the BFG's when the streets get cold.

Putting that size on the rear is the only thing I would advise. I have run a 255 on the front, but the wheel's offset was farther away from the strut. Also, make sure that you're not buying a 255/50/17. Those were the original equipment tire on the Impala SS. They may be overstocked in that size. That could be why they are less expensive.

Thanks for the tip. I did make sure they were the 45's.

Any specs on this tire compared to a stock 245/45/17 BFG KDWS? Are the 255/45/17s gonna actually be noticeably wider?

Well, they should be 1 cm wider by the actual numbers. Have no idea if they actually appear wider. But every little bit helps I guess. Here's some specs on the various sizes:

So, are you gonna stick with the stock size up front and run these in the rear then? If so, I'd love to see the pics when you get it done.

I think so. I'm going to the goodyear tire ctr. today [they sell multiple brands. Nice guys. They even store my off wheel tires for me n/c during winter/summer. They're really picky about removing corrosion on inside of the rims and seal them and fill with nitrogen. They only charge me 10.00 to change my royal purple oil and filter and let me BS with the tech and check under the car while he's doing it. Having one of about 3 GTO's in a 3 county area gets you a lot of perks with service centers.] I'll post pics if I get the 255's.
