Tire Fitment Question

I have an 05' GTO with 235-40-18 tires....they're basically bald now so new tires are a must... I ran into an opportunity to get a set of four 235-50-18's tires, they're used but very good, they have a little more than 8/32's left and the price is right....So my question is will the 235-50-18 rub? I was figuring since they weren't brand new and with the right wheel alignment I can avoid any rubbing...opinions????

way too tall. they will hit the bottom of the strut on the front.

235-50-18 is something i would put on a rav 4 or small 4WD.

when changing tyre size its important to stay within 3% of the overall diameter.

235-40-18 has a OD of 645.2mm
235-50-18 has a OD of 692.2mm

thats 7.3% larger
even if you find a way to get them on, not only will your speedo be out, but you run a good chance of brake failure.
