View Full Version : Will these definitely rub?

19x9.5 +42mm offset? The tires are Michelin PS AS 275/30/19. The guy at the tire shop talked to somebody somewhere for quite a while and they decided the tires won't rub.

I did my research and brought the info from the tire fitment guide. I was going to go with the 18's, but I'm in a bit of a time crunch and the 18's were nowhere to be had. I like the wheels I ordered, but I sure would have felt better if I could have done it exactly like the guide said to as far as size and backspacing.

If it is going to rub, will it rub on the inner or outer fender? I'll assume outer and ask what is the best way to remedy the problem, while keeping the same wheels? Rolling or cutting seem to be my options.

Well, that's enough from me. You get the idea. Suggestions, please?

TIA

They will rub. You are going to have to roll/cut the fenders to get them to fit. Even then it may still be cutting it really close.

They WILL rub. I run 19x8 with a 40mm offset and they don't rub but they are pretty close in the rear...

OK. Thanks. As long as they will work, I don't mind rolling the fenders.

I'm not real familiar with that tire, and whether the shoulders are 'square' or more rounded. I run 275/30/19 AZA Z1's (9.5") with Toyo Tires on the rear. I believe they are 42mm offset. My fenders are not rolled but I have drag bags. I've noticed that when the car is loaded down, like when I haul my drag radials to the track, I have to put more air in the drag bags or I will rub if I hit a pretty good dip in the road. Just around town, though, I don't rub at all.

19x10 +45mm fenders rolled 275*30*19 rub only hard turns or major squatting....getting offset changed soon only a few mm. ANyone know how much farther in i can go with the wheel before the inside becomes a problem?

My wheels are in, but the rear tires won't be here until tomorrow. The wheels look great! The tire shop has a fender-roller, so hopefully things will work out OK.

What a nightmare of a day. You were right, they rubbed. Not only that, but the tire guy insisted that the paint doesn't need to be warmed with a heat gun when rolling the fender because he "has rolled hundreds of fenders and never had a problem". The paint cracked bad on the driver fender underneath. I insisted that they get a heat gun for the other side, so they did. That side didn't crack. The tire/wheel shop is owned by a friend of mine and he is going to make everything right, but it's still a nightmare. I have been sick to my stomach for the last several hours.

All that for NOTHING!!! because the tires still rubbed with the 45mm offset (yes, the box said 45mm), not 42mm as I wrote in the original post. We are having a machine shop take 10mm more for a total offset of 55mm. If that doesn't work, Dave is just going to have to eat the cost of the tires and wheels because I'm not playing around with this anymore.

The wheels look beyond awesome. I hope this works out.

Welcome to the joy of trying to get wheels and tires to fit a GTO. About the only thing that truly ticks me off about this car.
