That is pretty nice, but I would rather have an AR type rifle chambered for the .50 Beowulf round. That would be a true mighty tack driver

It's for shooting prairie dogs at close range lol.

I'd take an SR-25 over that worthless pile any day...

I'll take that ACOG though...:D

looks like a necked down .50 beo cartrige, right down to the 7.62x39 sized base. so i suspect the bolt assembly is the same. The mags appear to be the same as well. I love the versatility of the AR15 platform.

That's not an ACOG on there. Thats a submachine gun style EOTech holographic sight. We have those same ones on our MP5s here. I had an ACOG in Iraq though, and god it was great.

I thought the ACOG and the EOTech were basically the same thing just a different manufacturer? I have only gotten to try one once(a holographic sight), awesome experiance.

Army? What division? - My best friend did tours in kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq in the 10th mountain infantry.

Is the ACOG one of those mini-scopes?

I think some are just like a red dot and some like the one I had on my 16 was a 4x. They are nice, but not neccesary in my opinion.

.458 Socom is supposed to have ballistics similiar to the old .45-70. Basically if you need it to die, shoot it with the .458 and it will go down.

I am thinking about getting either a .458 or .50 beowulf upper for my rifle, just for shits and giggles.

The ACOG is made by Trijicon, the guys who make the night sights for pistols. They are mini scopes, usually a fixed magnification, and the one I had was a day/night scope. It had the fiber optic strip on the top to light the reticle in the scope during the day, then had the tritium inserts as well to light the reticle at night. Awesome piece of equipment, especially on my M4. Can be seen here:

The EOTech is just a regular reflex/holographic sight, that projects its reticle onto the clear glass. It is pretty much the same as a red dot sight, bit in a cooler package, and usually the reticle is a crosshaired circle with a dot in the middle. They also have a night vision reticle for use with NVGs. They usually come in a full size, and a smaller size for sub machine guns and more compact applications. Can be seen here:

I am in the army, 178th Military Police detatchment, 89th Military Police Brigade here at Fort Hood. I have done 1 tour to Iraq, and was originally trying to go back to Iraq, but that got nixed, so I am trying to jump on the next trip to Afghanistan. I am currently on the SRT/SWAT team here at Fort Hood
