My goat is my DD, and Pittsburgh see all kinds of weather; therefore, I need all season tires. I bought AVON Tech M550 A/S in march and have less than 8K on them and there are already showing the tire indicators and the tread is very low. 8 out of 10 reviews on tirerace say that these tires are amazing, last long, great for performance, and very quite. Yet the other two reviews confirm what I have experienced: 1. They are extremely loud, 2. They have only last me 8000 miles. I have never experienced snow in them, yet they have handeled well in the rain.
2 questions:
A. Anyone on here every use these tires?
B. Best All season tires. Requirements: Under $125, last atleast 10,000 miles, and would appreciate if they were quite. (Yes I have check tirerack but like I said everyone on there loves the Avons yet I have had a very bad experience with them. PLEASE HELP!

I've heard the Dunlop SP5000's are some really great all-season performance tires. Lots of the Subbie guys like them for great all year performance. Not sure what I'll get to replace the stockers, but I'm leaning towards those. Dunno if they're under $125/ea, but they are a good value I know.

dude, how in the hell did you roast your tires in 8,000 miles. My stocks lasted 26,000 and still had maybe another 5000 left when I swapped them.

My stocks lasted me 20,000 then all 4 blew-out within a week of each other. I was riding with the threads showing the tire place told me. Like I said I dont drive like a nut. I got an A4 so I CANT burn out even if I wanted to.

my stocks are about dead at 28k on them. i think ive done a burnout once in them. i do corner kind of hard as im too lazy to shift to anything below 3rd gear.
im going with some winter tires until the weather gets nice, then ill figure it out from there. for winter tires im going with the dunlop 3d's or the blizzak LM25's

My first set of stock 18" bridgestones lasted about 4k. The insides were bald and the outsides looked brand new. My second set od BFG KDW's lasted about 7k. At that point I got 19" Z-1's with Falken Azenis and I am still on those tires at 28k.

My stockers lasted 12K and my 2nd set (Nitto 555) lasted 12K. We'll see how long my second set of Nitto's lasts. I don't go around doing crazy burnouts but, I do have fun!

Probably the best all season tire for the money where the stock GTO tires, to wit: the 8x17 245 KDWS tires by Goodrich. They sell for around $125, so they should fit the budget. If you prefer a more upbeat tire which is good in the rain and occasional snow, check out UHPs by General. Good tire with a great price of around $100 or less per tire depending on the size.

I personally thought the stocks were good (excluding the fact that I spun out two Christmas ago, and wrecked into a wall and my GTO was in the shop until late January. But I think that was a bit my fault for going WOT in December, and around a slight bend). But numerous people on here have said the stocks sucked. I even read about some people who changed the tires as soon as they bought the car. Any other opinions?
PS: Tirerack has the stocks ranked 11th in all season, and they are rated bad/not good in snow. And in Pa we gets snow, sometimes lots of snow

I'm at 14.5k now on the stockers and looking for new meats. Only did 3 burnouts since new May of this year. I'm looking at maybe BFG KDW's at 275/40- 18 rear 245/40- 18 front or same sizes in Nitto 555's on TSW Nogaro's hopefuly without any rolling or cutting.
