View Full Version : Which CCW wheels, SP500s or 505As?

Debating between SP500s and 505As, love the SP500s for the simplicity but feel they have a bit more "curve" than the car's lines do in some of the pics I've seen so I'm considering the 505As as well... only problem is this is my daily driver and these will be my spring-summer-fall wheels and I know keeping the area between the split spokes on the 505As clean is going to be a bitch. What are you 505A owners using?

Secondly, any ideas on whether I should go fully polished or possibly anthracite powdercoated centers on the Spice Red Metallic?

Any input on polished SP500s, polished 505As, anthracite SP500s, or anthracite 505As would be greatly appreciated.

im kinda partial, but i would go with the sp500's...at first i wanted the 505a's too but then was talked out of them by another member...i thought they curved too much for the car too and in some pics they do look like they are, but those are just pics, and in reel life they look even better than in pics, plus, it is a pain in the ass just to keep the sp 500's clean let alone the 505's its gonna be almost impossible....i use the mothers powerball on my drill and it still takes almost 1 hour per wheel to clean em (they dont have a clear coat on em, so everything stains and has to be buffed out)

19s are given, its just those few pics I see are hanging me up big on the SP500s. The 505As look like they were made for GTOs IMO.

And an anthracite center would be alot easier to clean than fully polished so thats on my mind too.

Do you have any pics of your SP500s from different angles?

For the 505's I have a crap load of pics at

Polish inside the spokes with your fingers. I have to say I plan on clearcoating them when I need tires.

My personal choice would be the 505A's. I would get a clear powdercoat on them, this way it doesn't yellow over time.

I have seen both in person and prefer the 500's, but to each his own. I wish I would have gotten the rears in 19" , 18" front though. It looks much better with 19's. I did happen to see the 505's in dark chrome finish (not on their website) looked good, but have not seen them on a GTO so far. You can't go wrong either way, great quality wheel.

SP500s! Almost got them and then I decided 3k plus on wheels was too much for a car I hardly drive!

You're car and that first picture you posted is whats keeping me going on the SP500s. The 505As just seem so right for the GTOs but that first picture looks so damn good with the SP500s on there.

Here is a chop someone on LS1Tech did with the SP500s on my car...

The bottom line is that you'll be happy with either. I chose the SP500's because, at the time, it seemed like everyone on here was going with the 505A's and because I thought the SP500's would be easier to clean.

Well, now I don't think that the SP500's are any easier to clean and it seems that it is about 50/50 now.

Like I said, you'll be happy with either choice.

Why can't I find where to buy these? I know I've seen them for sale somewhere. I didn't know you could get them in anthracite. Does anyone have any pictures?
