Went to TFT to look at some wheels. Found a set of Thruxtons and was drooling over them. Well they dont make them in 17" so I was entertaining the idea of going to 18's but knew I couldnt do it just now.

So they start giving me prices on wheels with tires. $1200. I told them that their price included tires that are junk and I wanted something top of the line...maybe even drag radials like Nitto's.

The two guys looked at each other and said "Those arent that good at all. In fact they are the lower level brand of Toyo tires."

Of course they wanted me to buy THEIR toyos which they had in stock, and they dont even carry Nitto's.

Then they started the pressure tactics. Thruxtons with Bridgestone drag radials for $2000. I told them they were dreaming as I wasnt prepared to move up to 18's so close to Xmas.

At the end of it I got pissy and said "I'll let ya know" and walked.

Granted I am not the all knowing tire guru so what can you tell me about the statement they made about the Nitto's. I thought those were excellent tires. I assume I am getting typical BS from them but can someone educate me a little bit on the drag radials.

Nitto is owned by Toyo. I guess you could say they're more of the budget line.

Bridgestone doesn't make a drag radial. What model were they quoting, do you know.

As for buying TSW, you they are the only TSW dealer in the north east, so you can either get them from them, or mail order them.

So you got made at them because they told you Nittos weren't that great because you assumed they were better tires because you read it on the interweb, but in reality you didn't know the trurth. Wow!

Trurth is they were right and you were wrong, way to take it out on them. :damnyou:

In my opinion Nitto’s are last in my book. Toyo's are better then it's the name brands like Goodyear and BFGoodrich.

Most of the drag radials I see are the BFG Drags Radials with the BFG KDW's up front for street/strip setups.

It was the overall experience. The high pressure sales tactics, the claim that Nitto tires were "junk" (which was their exact phrasing which I softened in my original post)

Now another poster is saying that Bridgestone doesnt even make a drag radial yet thats what they were going to sell me for 2k.

I posed a question. Didnt say I was mad but the experience of shopping there will have my buying my thruxtons online.

Yeah if their attitude sucks then it isn't worth dealing with them, especially if you have problems down the road. The way you posted the original post just seemed like you got made at them. Sorry.

Jeeze guys!!! I thought Nitto's were a top rated preformance tire as well. I knew they were part of Toyo but thought they were more of the preformance side of the company. Shit! I had a set of 555's on my cobra and thought they were great sticky meats and lasted 24k or so too.
Who knew!!!!!

I just looked this up on another site on Nitto DR's check it out!
