Did they make one for the GTO yet? Can't have a Goat without it being "Hurst Equipped." Any news on this? F-body/Vette shifter angled wrong?

Still working on perfecting it after several prototypes.

I would like to know too. Of course, if I keep the stocker I can blame my crappy shifting skills on it! :)

I e-mailed Hurst last week about the GTO shifter and the reply I got said it should be available in mid-February 2005.

If anyone knows for sure, please speak up...I've ordered a B&M (and still haven''t gotten it...nothing like an empty promise to be first to market) but I'd prefer a hurst.

If I could get confirmation, I'll probably cancel my order for teh B&M.

I emailed them last week and told them I have cash in hand. Their response was it is still in the development phase with no time frame for release yet.

Well, spring is not far off. If Hurst can't get their act together soon, B&M will work just fine. All I know is the stockers gotta go! :bomb:

do u think by changeing the shifter it would not be as notchy and hard to shift/grinding when cold?

I am interested as well. The B&M is quite tempting in its own right. But It would be nice to know there is another option available.

Yeah, that and the fact that some people have been having problems with the B&M, and the GMM Ripshifter is too expensive...I sure hope Hurst saves the day.

There has been some posts about the hurst shifter, someone drove a car fitted with the protype shifter and i think the comment was "felt like shifting through apple sauce".

As for the too expensive comment, sure its expensive but its worth it in my eyes. What is $150 more for pure shifting enjoyment. After all you bought a GTO, not a Honda Civic. If you have problems forking out an extra $150 to get a higher quality part, you should not be modding your car.

I look at modding with the whole "if you have to ask how much, you cant afford it" mentality.

I just spoke with the product manager at Hurst. They are instituting a last minute design change in the shifter, which is why it is behind schedule. Should be aprox 60 days of so before RTM.

So unless I have a blatant disregard for the value of money then I should not be modding my GTO?

The question is whether the $150 dollar difference is warranted...and knowing that a part of that cost difference stems solely from the fact that it comes all the way from Australia tells me 'no' the cost difference is not warranted. Either way, the B&M shifter does not lack in quality per say, as much as it just lacks time in the market place to work out these little unforeseen problems...the GMM ripshifter has been around for a little while and has already been through this stage (little development problems with the first production run, etc)...that does NOT mean the GMM shifter is some how better in quality...I have shifted a goat with both and there was no significant difference in performance...period.

If you have enough money to not even ask how much when buying a mod, then why don't you send me the measly $150 to make my decision a little easier?

It also lacks shift stops, I happen to like my synchros and would like to keep them intact.B&M also lacks the trouble free track record the Ripshit has.

both points have been made, my hijack is over.

If you pic up the August 05 issue of High Performance Pontiac you will see that in the Arrowhead Performance article they have a HURST SHIFTER listed with BOTH of there tiger packages. I dont know if that is BS or they are getting them to test but it is there.
