Will be needing tires to replace stock 17's on my 05 Goat. I would appreciate advice from those who have replaced thier tires and what you would suggest. I am looking for general all purpose tires, not ultra high performance and certainly not el cheapos. Thanks.

I've been researching this question too. From what I've concluded if you want to stay with a high perf/all season, the Bridgestone 960AS pole position rates very high. If you want to go with an H rated tire, the Yokohamo AVID H4S rates high. I'm on the fence between these two, but the yoko's are about $50 bucks cheaper per tire. My main goal is to get more of an all season tire, with a more comfortable/quieter ride.

I love the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX that I've got.
The Eagle F1 GS D3s are pretty good too. I might try them next.

Why would you want to spend 50-70 per tire more on the GS-D3's over the RE960, which is a better tire in....
Tirerack has the 245/45/17 RE960's for 166 shipped.
I have them in stock for 162, but with shipping you should go for Tirerack.

I can get the Maxxis MA-V1 tire (V-rated) in a 245/45/R17 out the door for $403.00 (tax, mounted, balanced, etc.). That is the best deal on the market right now. They have been out for several years so they are time tested and they last a long time.
The tires that I am running right now is a H-rated Hankook HRII. They are even cheaper than the Maxxis MA-V1. Very quiet and supposedly high mileage.
If you want to go Z-rated, I would recommend the General Exclaim UHP for the price. A bunch of guys run these if they do not want to pony up the cash for Goodyear Eagle F1's.
That is my two cents.

I'm sure if you looked hard enough, you could find a REALLY cheap S rated tire, that i'm sure would beat any large companies tires, like Goodyear or Bridgestone........ That would make the car feel very nice.....
You spend 30K on a car, why would anyone want to put the cheapest thing you can buy on for tires. The only thing that controls how your car turns and stops.
End of rant......

I went with Hankook Ventus V4ES and absolutely love them compared to the stockers in both dry and wet conditions. Haven't had them for too long yet but they outperform the BFGs IMO.
