I was wondering if anyone knows if I'll be alright fitment wise running 18 X 8.5 with 245/40/18's on all 4 corners?

Basically I wanted to get the sizes as listed in the fitment guide for 18'' rims on all four corner, so on wheelmax I just clicked 18" picked out my wheels and then selected the custom tire size, it didn't even dawn on me that they're default size for the rims 18 X 8.5 not 18 X 8 as listed on the fitment guide...you live and learn I guess.

Before someone refers you to the search function, I run 18 x 8.5 up front and 18 x 9.5 in the rear (rear quarters were rolled). So 18 x 8.5 on all 4 corners will fit no problem. The 245's will also fit and should not require any cutting or rolling to fit.

We need to know the offsets in order to be really able to help you out.

Yes - it completely depends on the offset of the wheel. To a lesser extent, it also depends on the tire, as different brands and models of tire have different shoulder characteristics.

What brand/model wheel are you installing?

With a 38, I'm betting they rub in the rear. Might not if they were 8's, but 8.5 is gonna bring the right up on the lip.

It'll be close. I had 18x8.5s with 35mm offset, and it rubbed in the rear. Not by a whole lot. It also rubbed in the front, though, on hard dips after I lowered the car.

I say roll the fenderlips regardless.

Is that because of the wheel or tire?...wheelmax basically recommended the 8.5's to me I changed the tire size from 235/40/18 to 245/40/18 because that was the size in the fitment guide, but if they don't fit because of the wheel then its their error.

Well... It's both. Both contribute. If the offset of the wheel is too high (in terms of distance from the hub, not numerically), the tire won't have much choice but to come into contact with the fender lip.

But it's entirely possible to choose a wheel that may be just right, and where one model of tire does not rub, another of the same dimensions does.

FYI - a 245/40/18 is larger in height and width than a 235/40/18, but will make a negligible difference as far as your PCM is concerned. A 235/40/18 is stock on the '05s and '06s that were bought with the optional 18" wheels.
