This is interesting information. Thanks. Now please learn how to type. Reading that was painful. And replacing an s with a z makes you sound like a mongoloid and takes no less time to type out.

275 on a stock wheel? Forget that. That's not near enough rim for a proper fit. Minimum is 9" most suggest 9.5" I'm running a 275/35 but it's on a 9.5" wheel. No way I would want to go less.

compared 2 the stock tires yeah it helped a lot...with what i have in the car now id burn up almost all of 1st gear...now w/ a good burnout @ the track u shouldnt have any problem hookin...i can take sum pix so u all can c how the tire fits on the rim...i read that the nitto 275 tire is a bit smaller than other DR tires of the same size & it doesnt look like its 2 big 4 the rim @ all trust me

I think a 275 in the rear is a tad to big. Although im happy you did this because now im pretty sure that we can get away with a 255 in the rear. As soon as my stockers are bad I plan to put some 255s on them

Geez. How about some punctuation, and spelling? And what's with the Z instead of the S shit? I guess that's some kind of super-cool gangsta G-dog pimp mack daddy bull shit right? Maybe we should institute spelling tests at the DMV?

Oh, and 275s on an 8 inch wheel... not always the best medicine. Many manufacturers (such as BFG) specifically recommend against anything under a 9 for 275s and would prefer a 10. When I mounted 275 drag radials on my 8's I got some major sidewall flexing at around 80 to 100 mph in the quarter. Just my 2 cents.

How do you know when you get sidewall flexing? I've seen tires that are too big for the rims but these don't look that way. I've attached some pictures so you all can see the tires don't look like some BFG of the same size on the stock 18" rims. I still plan to have the driver-side fender rolled just a bit. I can hear it rub when I stall, hit a hard bump or come up on a dip to fast.

BTW: I hope this post passes all of the spelling, grammar & punctuation tests!

looks like your fender is doing a number on your sidewall! :secret:

Just from my experience, try the drag bags first. I had my fenders rolled and it worked (the second time around anyway), but if you're anal about the look of your car, go with the drag bags first. Rolling the fenders often cracks the paint underneath, or if they use a heat gun to keep it from cracking, you often get a slight discoloration to the paint near the lip. Yes, its not really noticeable, but like I said if you're anal about your car, why go through this when the bags and/or some pedders coils can prevent the rub:wiggle: .

I'm running 295 DR on a 9" rim. With 1/2' raise, and rolled fenders. 52mm offset. No rubbing, for those who want to know. I also found a body shop that can pull my rear fenders out, enough to fit a 315, with stock appearance.

looks nice, but cut your rear 1/4's before you ruin and blow your new tires.

Hey man, thanks for posting the pics. Stay with us and let us know how they work out.

The 275/35ZR18 NT01's width measures 10.91". The 265/35ZR18's I was thinking of trying are 10.7".

Yah, so I'm over-thinking all this, and should throw some stock sized tires on the rear and call it day. Nah!!! What's the fun in that?

I was just looking at the Nitto 555 255/35ZR18 (10.08" width) and they are approved for an 8" rim, according to the Nitto website. They have a revs per mile specification of 829 vs 820 revs per mile for the stock 235/40ZR18 Potenzas. So, is 9 revs enough to impact the traction control or ABS? Are these a good choice for the stock 18"s? Is the profile too low? They are 0.3" shorter (25.4" vs. 25.1" total diameter). Thanks.

I use a hooser Quicktime Pro when I drag race,26x11.5-15. I have drag bags and it helps on launch. I have not rolled fenders at all. I just put some Kumo 275-40-17 on my stock wheels, some buldge on sidewall,no high speed shake. It is not the best set-up, but it works. I am putting some 9.5 c-6 wheels on in spring. I think that if you are doing some hard road racing you would have sidewall flex, not normal use. The tire mfg's have really been on the safe side since the Bronco II problem. The tires should be on a 9" wheel at least. We all know that you just need to buy back tires for our cars for some reason, I'm on my 3rd set back there (23000 miles). Most of all have fun with your car.

I see what you mean, and I have to agree. It is very hard to read that long of a sentence while trying to breath at the same time. LOL =-)

The Nittos maybe slightly smaller. I am sure different tires fit differenly (more rounded shoulders, etc) but just put 2 Toyo T1Rs (255/35/18) on the rear of my GTO today. The 255s are absolutely the biggest that will fit under my fenders (not rolled). I have between a 1/16" to 1/8" clearance from the lip of the fender. No rub so far but I really haven't gotten on it too hard yet. Drag bags are already on order just to make sure. Anyway, that is my 2 cents.

i was about to say the same thing...its kind of a shame that some members treat newbies like crap no matter what they do....actually, for those of you who are telling him how to type, i understood it right away, and he spent less time typing it because he abbreviated most words :bootyshak

LOL Talk about straying off topic. Well after about 10 hard launches at the track the tires don't rub anymore. Next time I get these tires I'm just going to have them rubbed a bit so they won't touch at all. I know by the pics it looks like it rubs a lot but trust me it doesn't. The only real drawback is that I can't let any air out at the track. I'm planning on adding Pedder 5/16" Springs & hope they help in not getting an rubbing at all so I can lower the tire pressure at the track. I've had several people look at them & they all agree that the rubbing is so minimal there isn't a danger in damaging the tire. By the way, if anyone has a hard time reading my posts well you can tell me in person at GoatFest. I'll be in the GTO with the hard to read license plates!

Some people are just dicks when it comes to this shit.

Why don't you maybe ask politely if he could type the way your prefer instead of jumping on his case.

This is a highly debated question and it grabbed my attention because I will be heading down the road of buying new tires soon also. So instead of bashing someone for their typing, lets try to stay on track here...

We're all GTO drivers, so why can't we just get along?

Just out of curiousity, have you had the bodyshop pull out your fenders to fit the 315's inside the wheelwells? Would love to see pics if you did

haha, somebody just cancelled their plans lol! I don't get the whole gangsta slang thing some members seem to bring up evertime someone doesn't use proper English. I don't know any gangstas that substitute "z" for anything other than "I'm gone whoop yo aZZ cuZ!!".. Goatfest should be interesting.
