Does anybody know if any of the big companies like MAC or BBK, or HOOKER, etc is working on getting some lower cost headers on the market?

I refuse to pay $1000 for headers.... :banghead:

Anybody got any other inside info for other products for the GTO in development stages?

Same here. $1000 for headers?? I don't think so.

Haven't heard even a whisper. Doesn't seem like anyone even wants to screw with anything less than stainless.

You get what you pay for and the production levels are not near what it would take for a Hooker or a Pace Setter to do them.

I think $1000 plus install is a good deal for long tube headers (i.e. Kooks) that add 25-35hp without tuning, and they sound awesome.

Hasn't it also been shown that long tubes are pretty much the only headers worth doing, with gains by shorty or mid-length headers being not as dramatic? (not sure about this).

Headers also compliment your future engine mods, so the gains later (such as with a new cam or heads) are going to be even greater. A set of headers is like the gift that keeps on giving!

Relinerhead - you are right, but you can also get a pair of long tube headers without a y-pipe for less than $300 for an f-body. You could problably get a good set of mild steel coated headers and a y-pipe for a few hundered bucks cheaper than whats out there for the GTO (but the GTO headers are all stainless)

OK, header question ...

I'm thinking about it. Obviously, LTs. Now my debate is cat-back exhaust or dumps w/ stock exhaust.

Comments?

Are you cool with droping 700 bucks on 10hp ? If so a catback is for you. If you don't want loud and want anything close to OE volume then your gonna need a mild, full muffler catback. My setup achieves that.

Just straight up Flowtech cutouts (ceramic coated i recommend) will be about 120 w/o install. Not bad at all. I would do 3in right before the flange point in the catback. I'm not sure how much room you have but it can be done. QTP electric valves on those would be sweet but then again is there room. That would be another 300 or so.

I like the catback idea for near droneless tone personally.

I have electric cut-outs installed in place of the resonators which had to be removed because of the space....
