After five years of carrying my S&W 9mm, I finally broke down and decided on something smaller. I put my deposit down, and will be picking my new Kel Tec .380 this Saturday. BTW, it's a six round magazine plus one in the chamber, very easy to conceal!

I was looking at a Kel-tec also. But my Para-carry is pretty small as it is, for a .45 anyway. Still tossing the thought around though.

...can't beat the stopping power of a .45!

I carried a keltec .32 with me EVERYWHERE it was legal for years. Good reliable gun. Does what it is supposed to which is allow you to unload rounds with fair accuracy at close range and be very discreet while carrying it. Mine was always in my back pocket where most people keep their wallet. I polished the feed ramp on mine which made it feed a lot better. might want to try doing that to yours.....Enjoy the gun.

Edit:

Here is a link to a tech site devoted to kel tecs. Lots of good info on getting the most out of your new gun...

i have a colt mustang .380, i carry in "tight places"...I love the compact size and ease of concealment....but im not as "warm and fuzzy"......

just remember.... shoot often at the range. make it so the gun is second nature because with that small a caliber...you better hit the sweet spot or the dude's gonna keep on coming.....especially when drugs are involved. thats why i carry a Kimber Ultra Raptor II .45 acp now.

I love my Sig P226 35mm. I used to shoot plates and it has never jammed. Had a couple of different 45s and they both jammed.

I have the little 380. It's good for what it is- a little mouse gun. I can't hit shit with it outside of 10 yards, but that doesnt matter too much for that type of gun. Fair warning- it SUCKS to shoot. It's a VERY light gun, so 100% of the recoil that the little 380 round is transmitted directly into your hand, notably at the web of your thumb/index finger, and the inside of your trigger finger. What happens is the recoil tends to flip the muzzle up, and the trigger guard hits you on the inside of your trigger finger.

It WILL have a break in period, probably 200-300 rounds. This can be greatly accelerated by doing a "fluff and buff" on it.

www.ktog.org is the Kel Tec Owner's Group forum. They have a good technical section with instructions on how to do the F&B, along with any other trouble shooting. Also, don't hesitate to call KT directly. They have first class customer service, and if anything is wrong with the pistol, they will bend over backwards to fix it for you.

I have one too, great little gun. I will second the recoil comments, its got a nice bark for a .380. After my 1st session with it, my right triggerfinger finger was actually bleeding around the left edge of the nail. I think I had put 100 or so rounds through. :) Other than that, its a blast.

One of my buddies has a .25ACP version. It doesn't kick as much, kinda lame really. :D

My next purchase is going to be an FN 5.7. I have a thing for odd-ball firepower, so this will fit right in.

Nice little gun but how are you legally carrying a handgun in Chicago?

Well, I'll just stay on your good side then! (As opposed to the side on which you have the best aim. LOL)

Absolutely! I have seen instructional video's of bad guy's taking several rounds and they just won't go down! It's actually pretty damn scary!

you mean the .32ACP? KT doesnt make anything in .25. I've shot the P32, and agree that the 380 is a lot more gun for a not much bigger package.

Have fun with the 5.7. Ammo will eat you alive.... 70 cents per shot by 20 rounds in the mag gets expensive REAL quick, especially if you like plinking at the range.

Sorry, didn't know you were a cop.

One of my colleagues has this gun also, it really is a nice gun and it feels just right in your hands. I prefer heavier guns, something with some nice weight to them but this felt good. I haven't had the chance to shoot one yet though.
