Hello,
I searched the threads and found some conflicting information on Beyern 5's. I have a 2005 GTO and am trying to decide whether to go with the 17's or 18's.
1. Does anyone know for sure if the 17's will fit over the 05 front brakes? Checked with TByrne and they were not sure.
2. Will I need to roll the rear fender lips if I go with the 18x8.5's with the 40mm offset? I'd prefer not to have any potential hassles with fitment, would like to just bolt them on without any worries and go. That's why I was considering the 17's.
I'm having a set of hub rings made, but need to know the answers to the 2 questions above before deciding.
Thanks!

go 18's and you won't have to roll puting an 8.5" rim in the back if the offset is right

The offset is 40, does anyone have the Beyern 5's 18x8.5's with 245/40 tires?

I just went to 19's on the rear, 9.5" wide and no problems whatsoever. I am running Pedders drag springs though so that supposedly raises the rear 5/16". Anyway, no problems. If you're interested I'm selling the two 18" that I had on the rear. They're the chrome Beyern 5's, 45mm off-set. I also have a complete set of new center cap decals that I'll include along with a new set of lugs and lock that came with the new 19's ( I used my existing lugs and locks). LMK if you're interested.........

Thanks for the offer JET, but I'm planning on going with silver 5's for my cyclone gray car.
Also, I thought the Beyern 18x8.5 have a 40 offset? Where did you get the 45 offset? If I could get a 45 offset I wouldn't be as concerned about the rubbing issue.

I just got my 18 inch staggered Beyern 5's put on yesterday and I have ZERO rubbing issues. I used a 225/40 tire and they fit just fine on front with a 40mm offset. The rears I put a 9.5 witha 245/40 and truth be told, I only cut off 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch in the back inside fenderwell and it does not come close to rubbing! You might want to consider a 9.5 in the rear with a 245/40 and all you have to take a cutting rotary tool and get it down to the factory weld beads and you would be fine. A 9.5 on the rear looks better anyway. Just get some touch-up paint and some clearcoat and put it on after the cut. It took a body shop 1 hour to do it and cost me 80 plus a 20 dollar tip for fitting me in that day. Not long at all. All of my jpegs are 299kb and I cannot post a picture of it because anything over 100kb is not allowed...Anyone out there help?

Thanks for the replies thusfar, but what I really need to know is the following--
1. Does anyone have 18x8.5 Beyerns, 40mm offset with 245/40 tires on their GTO with stock rear fenders and springs? This is what I'd like to do and not modify anything or worry about rubbing. Another reason I don't want to do a staggered set up is so I can rotate the tires properly. The car is a daily driver for a 100 mile commute.
2. If this will not work, I'm going to use the 17's but need to be sure they will fit over the 05 brakes in front.

I have Beyern 17s (Mesh Type) with the stock tires on mine. No fitment issues at all.

yes, i have 18x8.5 with 245/40's and stock springs. put them on a week ago. i had a little rub on the pass side on my initial test drive. ive driven it a couple times after that to work and didnt notice any more rubbing. car's been parked since last thursday because of snow/ice here so i cant really say much more. i think tire choice is the biggest factor. lots of people run the nitto 555 and they run small. i have pirelli pzero nero's. dont know how they tend to run, but im guessing a little bigger than nittos
