I just put on these 18x8 and 18x9.5 Liquid Metal Wheels from www.discounttiredirect.com
The tire I put on are Sumatoma HTR Z II 235/40 18 and 275/35 18
I am getting rubbing on the passenger side rear when I hit a hard bump or dip, but I will be going to get the fenders rolled. Probably within a week.

Jeff, can you get a pic at the top of the rear wheels, I want to see what the fitment is like and how much you are having to roll. I like those, and the price looks good too.

The rim offset is 45. Yeah I will get pics soon. I dont have a camera ( my money has gone to the mod sickness) so I have to go to a friends house. They will be just fine though once I get the fenders rolled. The passenger side is not liking bumps.
But thanks for the compliments people

How bad is the rub? I have my fender liups trimmed, but my car is lowered 1/2" in the rear. These are the only wheels I could find with a +50 offset without having to pay around $700/wheel. I'm hoping these wheels with 275's will fit.

May depend upon the brand of tire.

It will depend on what tire you use but it doesn't rub to bad. Just when I really get on it and hit a bump. Now that my gas tank is low i'm really not getting to much rubbing. Although I had a passenger and it rubbed over any bump or turn. I'm going to get my fenders rolled on Monday and I can let you know the outcome

Yeah stock springs and no bags.
If you dont get a lot of drop in the rear on bumps and acceleration you should be fine. It only rubs in those situations oh and if you have a passenger. 285 might be fine. I would recommend fender rolling anyways. 285 would look nice though.

I think its the angles. But I wouldn't doubt it since that was the only side I got rubbing.

Wow! Thanks for sharing.
Thats a great looking set-up. Do you think a 265/35 would prevent the rubbing in the back?
fireman12af
01-26-2007, 03:50 PM
It depends on what tires you go with. Some are wider then others. The Sumitoma HTR Z II I went with run thinner. So I got only a little rubbing. Plus those tires grip well and are cheap. With a 265 I would consider fender rolling. Try it and see what happens.

See my wheels below in attached. they're the same :
I've those wheels, they've been on my car for five months now and they're great, however they still rubbed with 275-35's, even after the fenders got rolled but it was far less noticable if at all. I now have the stickiest street tires you can buy, BFg T\A KD's (near "R" compound tires) in a 285-30 and these clear the fenders mostly due to the smaller profile > aka> (Shorter side wall) if you want to track with those wheels you must go with a 265-35 or 40 side wall, with the smaller width and keep the taller side wall for good launches.
FYI: Those puppies are heavy, at 27-28 lbs. each. {they are also 40 offset frt and 50 in back} I'm saving up for CCW's that were on the Detroit Dream Cruise GTO which is also at the header of this site when it says LS7 GTO if you watch for a bit, it's orange with the back facing front, with a slight left turn. The CCW's are 8-10lbs lighter but my brother for a engineer that has been working on things such as rotational mass etc., for Ford and GM, he told me my wheels would need to come down to 15 lbs or less to make any meassurable difference in perfomace.
