I was looking at a set of rims with above specs - think they would work out - front and rear ?

8.5 front? i dont see y not, evidently the 18'' stockers are 8" wide and 48mm offset, close enuff i'd say!

Im thinking that a 42 offset on a 8.5" rim equivalent to a 48 offset on an 8" rim - is that right ?

The rim will stick out a 1/2" more but inner clearance will be the same as stock.

OldER Goat;

The 18x8 MC2 Rims sold by GM as an addon are 42mm offsets.
I've never had a single problem with them rubbing.
I just thought I'd throw that out there for you.
That's another .25" inside and out.
FYI: OZ wheels DMS was fitting to vehicles with a 9" deep rim on the rear have a +53 offset, and no fitment issues what so ever.
That is another 11mm in towards the inner well I do believe.
+42 on a 8.5" wide rim may rub outside. Your only looking at an additional 1/4" sticking outside, but every little bit counts. I'd feel safe with a +48 on a 8.5" wide 18" rim.
That's just using simple math and previous experiences.
G'Luck with your choice!

nope...the oe 8" wheel has a +48 offset - so a 8.5 with a 48 offset would be a quarter inch closer to the strut..which is probably not a good idea.
