So,

Got to take the Goat out in the snow for the 1st time today, thanks to Mother Nature dumping a few inches of the stuff in Cincinnati last night. Since this is gonna be a DD for the foreseeable future, I wanted to see how bad these "Ultra High Performance Summer" treads were really gonna be. Not as bad as I expected, but a few observations...

1. On packed snow and ice, they don't like to stop or go as well as an all season tire would, but I was not dead in the water on slight grades as I feared I may be.
2. No problems in slush
3. The traction control, as we know, is not a ton of help with starting in the snow due to it allowing allowing limitted wheel spin. It was easier with the TC disabled to take off in the slick stuff, but I would think the TC may help at higher speeds...
4. ABS is good if you wanna stop...

I plan on keeping these mounted on the stock wheels until the summer when I am planning on upsizing to 18X8, 18X9s. At that point I may mount all season treads on the stock wheels. Not sure if this is justified, though, due to Cincinnati roads only being snow covered a couple of days per year... I may mount autoX tires on the stockers for SCCA showroom stock... Hmm...

I tried leaving the neighborhood last night with my Potenzas.

ABS works amazing, and the car stops very well. On slight grades and packed snow and ice, they're terrible and i'm wondering just how much better the car would do with winter tires.

The T/C is kinda funny actually. There was a van waiting behind me when I was backing out of my driveway and I just kept the gas at 50% and had the wheel ****ed to the right and just dog walked the car 100 ft and all the T/C does is just click, I hear it clicking constantly, no retarding on the engine timing, I didn't feel the engine power reduce while keeping the accelerator down, but it kept my car from going too out of control atleast.

when in the snow turn off the TC you will be much better off, learn to control your foot.

Yeah, the thing is I like the T/C because it helps me from getting out of control. I don't really floor it though. I'm okay with the gas. It's just hard tryin to leave from 2nd but not give it gas.
