I bought a wrecked '04 off of ebay, and I have a question. The firewall looks like it unbolts out of the car and I was wondering if anyone out there had worked on one and could verify this for me. The area where it is black looks like it just fits down inside a little channel. Any and all help is much appreciated.

I bought a wrecked '04 GTO and I need to replace the main wiring harness(the one with the fuse blocks) that runs through the firewall. There is not enough room to feed it through the hole with it in the car. Can I heat the adhesive up with a heat gun and break it loose? I just don't want to mess anything up. Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.

My first GTO's firewall was not properly assembled. Dealership used the same glue that's used to bond the polymer side panels to a Saturn, to re-glue the firewall together. This seemed to fix the problem, but the dealer's repair attempts messed up the dash and suspension of the car, leading to a buyback.

Regardless, if you're not familiar/comfortable with doing this, suggest you call your local Saturn dealer and then ask them who does their body work. Talk to them about this - they should be able to help.

Its probably a 2 part panel bonding material, like 3M 8115 or comparable.
