I will say that the race I just installed is quite LOUD! Pretty much in every gear, I can hear the internals of the tranny working. I know some people say there isn't much difference, but mine is significantly louder than b-4.

However, I don't really mind the noise that much, since the shifting is so much improved.

The reason is mostly because they have a strangle-hold on the performance shifter market and can charge that much money; I'm sure materials costs are sizeable, but it's also not $300+. I can't say I blame them for charging such a high price, but clearly if there are lots of people on these boards that don't have GMM's, that alone is enough reason to have a GOOD GP.

In that case, I won't ever buy a GMM. I'll get a B&M for under half the price and get it installed properly despite the poor engineering. Or I'll keep the stock shifter. But I won't buy a GMM.

i feel jhp does not want to do a gp because it would cut into there profit. the gp price really only saved us money on shipping from austrilia and now that they have stock in the u.s. with cyclone being one of there distributor's they don't need to discount the shifters and cut into there profit's. on other gp they where just saving us money on shipping.

Nobody accused you of making up pricing, just charging a lot for it due to the fact that a good shifter for the GTO doesn't really exist except for yours. If the Hurst comes out at a lower price point and everybody says it is equal to or better than the GMM, will there suddenly be a price drop?

I'm really not bitching at you with this, but it surprises me how poorly some companies on this board manage their relationships with customers. TByrne, PrecisionMotorsports, & MarylandSpeed seem to be on the right track. They listen to what their customers want, and do it. Again, not going after you, they are distributors and you are a manufacturer, totally different scenario. But just disappointing how much potential there is and businesses don't use it.

I can agree with that, but also, you have a certain profit margin you make off each shifter. With close to 40 people wanting a shifter, it would seem like you might be willing to cut into that profit margin slightly to make these sales. Considering that some/most of us won't buy one otherwise. Unfortunately you guys have already taken a stand on the issue so I guess it's time to look elsewhere.

I’ve seen that shifter and unless they’ve changed something for the final production, GMM won’t have to worry about a thing in my opinion. And also it will be up to GMM to decide if they want to lower production price.

i feel jhp does not want to do a gp because it would cut into there profit. the gp price really only saved us money on shipping from austrilia and now that they have stock in the u.s. with cyclone being one of there distributor's they don't need to discount the shifters and cut into there profit's. on other gp they where just saving us money on shipping.

ABSOLUTLEY NOT THE CASE! Yes the GMM's are stocked and shipped from my warehouse in New York. They are still purchased in Australia and then shipped to my location and then to point of destination. This actually cost us more $$$ to do this because we are now paying frieght +1 where as before we shipped direct to the customer and not to our warehouse first. This enables us to turn product around to the customer much faster now that it's stocked in the USA but cost JHP more to offer this service to it's customers.

Some forum menbers are happy to save a buck ($20 saving on a street & $9.00 on the race) and thats great. The GMM shifter is a great product and worth the $$, JHP dont have huge margins to discount this product and offer the GTO forum members what we can, this shifter was being sold for $450 almost 2 years ago.
JHP didnt want to offer another GP special on the GMM Rip shifter so soon after the last special (3.5 months ago), but we appreciate & listen to our customers, so we put an offer up of another GP.
After reading some posts about "JHP acting like arses"?? or "doing everyone a favor for 10K of revenue" , its no good doing 10K of sales and making zero profit or a loss, .... after all it was you guys who demanded the GP and we listened.
Yes, another vendor (speed inc) sell the "race" shifter for $309 and just like JHP, sponsor a great forum (well, most of the time) .

You are right. Thanks for clarifying. I would assume, though, that shipping is more than $10. Therefore this GP is a better deal. Unless someone can contact Speed Inc for a discount, I'm not even gonna bother messing around to save a buck.

I see the points with what your doing but,.... I dont agree. JHP caved after much pressure yes. They did not have to and Speed Inc. also a vendor here could have jumped in at any time and offered a GP. They didnt and JHP, did Lets not try to make this into a vendor war over a few dollars.Those who dont want to get in on this GP for their own reasons can get the shifter else where. Those that are OK with the GP can get it here. I'm glad to see a vendor listen to their customers so I will support the vendor. No JHP posted after I went and took the time and sent them a email. :wall: And point still its to high for 30 people to buy a product. There is nothing with production cost or anything its because its a GTO. Pro 5.0 are made the same way. Looke at GMM and Pro 5.0 I want a GMM to compare what the difference really is.

JHP you might not have a say so due to profit and I understand somewhat but someone needs to Push GMM to lower price to get with the market and not just rip us because its a GTO and there the only one who offers it.

You found the website, but did you look at the price? It’s right on the front page. It’s listed as $499 AU which is ~$387 US. And the price on the website is listed before shipping. So we are already selling it $80 below for the US market ONLY. There’s not much left to push there. We’ve already been pushing it for over a year.

Pro 5.0 cannot be compared because there is no real user data at this point so you won’t know what you are getting there.

speed inc. onley sells the race version and it is $309.00 and jhp gp is 300.00 shipped to your door.just place the order with jhp you save a little and they are doing the right thing with this gp.

I've read the product detail on their web page and it comes across to me as though it is the Street version. Read it for yourself and tell me what you guys think.

The 04-06 GTO's shifter is far less than adequate for spirited driving. The rubber feel and extended linkage design gives the driver a disconnected feel for what is really going on and selecting gears.

GMM’s solution comes from downunder in the form of a billet shifter with a special handle. This T56 shifter is made to fit in the tight space on your GTO. The pivot system is setup for crisp, short, and precise shifts. The special handle is made to locate the stock knob in the same location as factory, it might be slightly higher. Stock knob and leather boot are reused in this installation.

BTW, it's $305 not $309 as some of you stated.

True. There is no user data because know one was willing to try anything. Just like GM rims fitting gto's. Everyone was worried because GTOs were BMW bolt setup. Has anyone had problems running them. Not from what I can see.

I would like Geoff(COUPE 4) to respond to that himself, but I’m pretty sure he didn’t mistype anything. Just because we’re going to start shipping in the middle of the month doesn’t mean we will have to close the group purchase itself. It can keep going until the 30th so more people can join in.

Regarding the AU -> US pricing, you really can't compare that. I think normally things are more expensive in AU than in the US, at least from what I've seen. I know when video games and consoles release in AU, once you convert from AU$ to US$ it's still always like 20-25% higher.

I wasn't talking about exchange rate though. I meant AFTER the exchange rate. The 60GB Australian release PS3 is like $999AU. given the current exchange rate at this second, that's like $786US. The US PS3 is $600US. $786 - $600 = $186. $186 is over but close to 25% of $600. They pay more for stuff.

The JHP shifter GP starts on the 1st March and ends on the 30th March for orders. The first shifter orders will ship (in order of receipt) on the 2nd or 3rd week of March (because we didnt have enough stock in the USA) and will keep on shipping until 30th March, until all orders have been filled. We are leaving the GP open till the 30th for the members who didnt see the post.

Don't get me started on the electric bill! I have this place less than 2 miles from my home, maybe you heard of it. It's called "NIAGARA FALLS". It's one of the country's largest natural resourcees for energy and we (NY-ERS) pay some of the highest energy fees.
