I was just thinking today that would probably be a nice looking combo... anybody got pics?

I was thinking about them also, but there's no way to clear coat them. It's just too much work to maintain billet aluminum. Did you see the new SP550/SP551? They have wider spokes and are nicer then the SP500.

I checked them out, like look nice. Is it possible for the 550/551 to be clear coated?

Why is there no way to clear coat them?

John said he would have to scuff them before they are clear coated. Once they are scuffed, no more shine.

I checked this out throughly and it can't be done. Clear coat will not stick to polished aluminum. Can't clear powder coat them either. They can be chromed or anodized only. They can be painted, but require scuffing which defeats the billet look. So if you want them, you will need to constantly polish them.

I had mine anodized black.....then saw a set of Beyern Type 5's and sold them to buy the Beyern's.....now i have my eye on a set of black O.Z. Ultra Leggera's :)
I'm just never happy....wheels are to men, like shoes are to women.

I've seen plenty of clear coated polished aluminum wheels. I've never heard this before. In fact Breyton even sells polished wheels that are clear coated.

Yes, they are custom made, John will make them in any bolt pattern you like.

I prefer the 505a to the 500. The 505s remind me of C6 z06 wheels kind of.

The picture is just an example of the SP550 wheel. CCW will make them for our car... 8.5" front, 10" rear; no rubbing with 275 rear tires, if you use Toyo.

PM johnebgoode (http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/member.php?u=7228) and he will explain why it can't be done.
