So I got to go make some passes in my car today with the Hoosier QTPs on and cant go full throttle in first. My goal is to hook my car on the STREET.
I dont have any suspension parts at all and am wondering what will help my problem without spendin a lot more money.
My mods are as follows if helps
Trick Flow heads TEA ported w/ Harland Sharps
Vengeance cam (pretty large)
kooks LTs w/ magnaflow and no cats
UD pulley
ported intake and TB by Vengeance
Yankss3400 converter
Tires are 26x9.5x16
I was running 255/50R16 MT et street radial and the car was useless through 2nd. I didnt know if maybe the ET street radials would work better with a 15'' wheel. What suspension parts would I benefit from the most shocks, springs, drag bags, etc.
Thanks for any and all help in advance

I run 275 17s MT with no problem. what air psi where you running? I run @ 15-18psi. Any of the suspention mods will help but for little $ drag bags work fine. for a little more you can put in a good sway bar and sb bushings.A good burnout, correct tire psi and Bags should get you down the track fine. I woul deal with a little spin though, with your mods if you go 15" you will need to go through that rear end!

I had the tires around 20psi..... it is far more than a little spin! cant use first. I am sure that I will hook pretty good at the track, its the STREET that i need some more bit.
oh hey man I hear there are suppsed to be a lot of people at the bridge Sat. night if you can make it

Sorry man DRs dont help on the street in this weather. they like hot surfaces. I have 275 DRs mounted on stock 17s if you want to try them? You will need drag bags though. As far as your Hoosiers though Ive never run them so I cant comment.

temp and surface prep are what gets you to hook at the track. you'll do much better in warmer weather.

Hooking is a question of educating your right foot. Without tubs and huge tires etc etc etc, there isn't a car here over about 450 RWTQ that will hook at full throttle. Even with big biters, does anyone think that any of the 9 and 10 second street machines out there can actually go WOT in the lower gears without spinning?

I know how to drive the car and can make it hook my question is what is the best hooking tire/wheel combo and what suspension parts would make the biggest difference.

As far as just spinning, there is not much you can do to the suspension to stop that. Now if you have wheel hop, that is another case. I am sure you can handle a search to cure that, but straight hook and go traction, you are not going to find that unless you tub the rear. I can put my 275 nittos on, drop the psi and still break them loose on the street (and I have a few supension mods as well). If you roll into the throttle instead of just mashing it, you will get better results.

I am going to try lowering the pressure, I am still trying to get used to that wobble on the top side..lol

well I have been making some passes and the tires are hooking A LOT better. It hooks foot braking 2500 and leaving at 3/4 throttle then full throttle at about 30 feet (this is on the street not track). My car is no pig either I could cut 1.62 60ft at the track all day before the Trick Flows.
I am still interested in some shocks and springs if someone can chime in and let me know the difference they made in helping there car hook.
