View Full Version : TSW quality?

I like the design of the TSW Laguna wheel.(I'm a fan of the split spoke design) But I was perusing around before I buy and saw that on a few other auto forums, TSW stands for The Softest Wheels. Since TSW's seem to be popular on new Goats, I wanted to know what some of you have to say about their quality.

they do have that rep, but you have to keep in mind the source. most of the guys i hear complaining about that are the ones who insists on running little to no sidewall. put a little meat around them and they'll be infe.

FWIW, i have not yet come across one story of anyone on this site bending a TSW wheel, or any wheel for that matter.

I have been very happy with my Lagunas, search my posts for pictures, other than scratching one up by getting stuck in a gravel driveway, but that was my fault obviously. whiteboyslo is right though, any wheel will get bent if it hits something and doesn't have enough tire wrapped around it. IIRC TSWs actually have a very high strength rating.

i have bent on of my tsw wheels, but it was only the fact that them damn rail road crossing had a monsterous hump on one side and i hit it at 40. and yes it hurt.

but other than that, when i can have my tsw wheels on (lack of tire right now) i love them to death lol.

I have 20" TSW Mondellos on my ranger with 245/35/20" tires and I have had no problems. I've hit my share of mean speed bumps and they have held air and are still straight.

I know the chrome on them is excellent as well...

Ok, it might not be a forged BBS but you do get what you pay for. Here's an interesting tid bit of info that a BMW mechanic told me when I brought my 535 in for a bent wheel. "They're supposed to bend." WHAT?! Yes, if you hit a hole, bump, RR track or whatever thats going to hit hard enough, it's easier and CHEAPER to repair a bent wheel than broken suspension components or a cracked shock tower. Makes sense. Damn enginerds! Always right...

ok, i wouldn't say they're DESIGNED to do that (at least for that purpose), but it is a nice side benefit.

Love my TSW Vortex and no problems.Toyo T1R's have a lip to help prevent side damage. Seems to be helping.

I'd never buy TSW wheels again. My old Solara had the TRD(TSW) Wheels on it with 225/45/17. In the 105k miles I had the car I replaced two of the wheels and had wheels straightened probably 20 times. Eventually I gave up and stopped straightening them. I just bought cheap Kumho tires and let them wear out poorly and vibrate like crazy.

I have a slightly bent lip... lol. They are not as soft as people make them out to be, but of course I'm running 275/35/18's in the rear. With more rubber it's not an issue IMO.

On a side note, I want to get rid of my vortexs if you would want another wheel. I am looking for a lighter performance based wheel currently.
