Guys, I need some help. I switched out my rims to my summer ones today. I have a stud that's been giving me problems for the last few time and I was able to work a lug on it in the fall, but now it's done. I think it's totally stripped out, so I need to replace it. It's just a singe stud, the other 4 are totally fine. Any help on what I need to do to replace it? I've searched and searched and all I can find is info on replacing a rear one, is the front the same?

I found that the P/N is 9214 3367, can anyone verify this for me? Also, any help you can give on replacing it would be totally awesome! Thanks...

Can anyone help on this...I have a feeling the dealer is going to charge me like 200 bucks to change this out. I had them order the part today so I have a few days to try to figure out if I can do this on my own..

Thanks...

Search :ftw: :D

Here is one way to do it:

You can probably do it without taking the hub out, there is usually a slot at the bottom where you can slide the stud out from.

I'll see what I can find tonight.

Here is what I found:

Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Front in Disc Brakes.

Use a drill in order to remove the heads of the 3 rivets that retain the front brake shield (1) to the knuckle.
Use a drill in order to remove the remains of the rivets from the shield and from the knuckle.
Rotate the shield to the 11:00 position in order to align the access hole in the shield with the recess in the knuckle (2).
Rotate the hub in order to align the stud with the access hole in the shield and the recess in the knuckle.
Install the J 42066 , or the equivalent tool, and 2 wheel nuts onto 2 studs in order to prevent the hub from turning.

Use the J 43631 , or the equivalent tool, in order to remove the wheel stud.
Use the same process in order to remove the other 4 wheel studs.

Installation Procedure

Align the wheel stud hole in the hub with the access hole in the shield (1) and the recess in the knuckle (2).

CAUTION:
If one stud is damaged, replace all the studs. A loose-running wheel may cause only one stud to break, but the other studs could have internal fatigue. Replacing only the broken stud and remounting the wheel may cause further damage and personal injury. If the stud holes in the wheels have become enlarged or distorted, replace the wheel.

Install the wheel stud into the stud hole.

Install 3 washers (1) and a wheel nut (2) onto the wheel stud (3).
Install the J 42066 , or the equivalent tool, and 2 wheel nuts onto 2 studs in order to prevent the hub from turning.
Tighten the wheel nut (2) in order to seat the wheel stud.
Use the same process in order to install the other 4 wheel studs.
Remove the wheel nut and the 3 washers.
Remove the J 42066 , or the equivalent tool, and the 2 wheel nuts.

Verify the position of the brake shield (7) is correct in order to provide clearance for the brake caliper.
Install a pop-rivet (4) to the round hole (3) in order to retain the shield to the knuckle.
Install 2 pop-rivets to the 2 remaining holes (8).
Install the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Front in Disc Brakes.

I think you can probably do it without removing the hub. I managed to get mine out, but couldn't get the new / longer ARP studs in without removing the hub. As I recall, about 8 o'clock was the sweet spot. I see you're an '04, I'm an '06...YMMV. I would just knock it out with a hammer (I used an air hammer) then suck the new one on with a lugnut on some washers. An impact is nice here. Hardest part is breaking those four allen head bolts loose (if you have to remove the hub), they're tight!! Best of luck!

This may help alot of you that need to replace a wheel stud. I just replaced a front wheel stud on my 2004 GTO and I used a dremel tool to cut a very small part of the brake shield away in order to be able to fit the new wheel stud through the hole.

Here are a couple pics. This worked really good for me, and now if I ever need to replace another one it should be smooth sailing.

Not bad, when the time arrives I know what I'll be doing. I haven't had to change my fronts yet, but I got them in my house ready to go lol. I just went ahead and bought all 20 plus 1 rear I needed. Just getting ready to avoid any crap down the road.
