I will be heading over to Daytona tomorrow to check out the race version of our beloved GTO! The number 23 Horizon Motorsports GTO will be starting 43rd with a qualifying speed of 106.964mph over the 3.56 mile circuit. The pole position was won by a Lexus Riley (not available anytime soon to any of us much less if we could afford one :burnout: !) with a speed of 119.856.
I will take some pictures that I will upload after the race. Weather is suppose to be great with sunny skies and 70 degrees.

:burnout:

Let me know if you see the car in my sig. I don't know if it is a car they will race or just a press car.

I am watching the race right now and your car is running in the 43rd overall position, 21st in class, driven by Couceiro/Amaral/Policastro. According to Grand American Live Timing

It sucks that I don't have Speed Channel. I would have had to ditch work to watch it. :banghead:

The car was just shown on Speed. It's wearing a navy blue paint scheme but looks very much like the car on the team's website Horizon Motorsports (www.horizon-motorsports.com) It's a privateer effort. The full factory cars like the one in sccaGTO's sig will not appear until later in the year, most likely the July race at Daytona.

Well that's good to hear. It will give me something to look forward to near my birthday.

Damn. Horizon's Goat is done. Just had to be towed in from the bus stop. Broadcasters believe they lost the motor.

That's a shame. A couple of hours ago it looked like they were advancing in the field.

I noticed that Bob Varsha said that they were running with a 70hp penalty under new rules for this year. I'm to assume that they were making "too much" hp?? I know they say the reason they do this junk is to keep the field as even as possible but I just dont get it. I love (well used too anyway) Nascar, but after this stupid new points system and Nascar's insatiable appettitie for equal cars, I dont see why the Manufacturers should even bother trying to come up with slicker cars. If one comes out faster than the other then Nascar is either gonna slow them down or speed everybody else up. Seems kinda contradictary to what racing is all about doesn't it?? Well, the little GTO is out but we can still root for the all the prototype Pontiacs-Go Stewart/Wallace

Okay I lied, the 64 car is one of 6 Racer's Group Porsches, sorry.
