I've been using polyurethane condoms for years, and can vouch for the improved roundness and reduced rolling resistance. I've never had one delaminate either.

That is one of the "benifits". I saw a show on these a year or so ago. They also don't squeel on a burn out.. Heck, they don't even properly burn. They just crumble...
Something else that hasn't been mentioned is the waste product. Rubber breaks down naturaly. As tires wear the rubber is dust on the side of the road and the sun and elements break it down. If this were not the case the streets would be lined by rubber drifts (actualy there would be high rubber content in the soil around magor highways) If polyurithane is inert as the artical says it could lead to problems 10 years down the road.
