How do I ship wheels, can I just go to my local fedex/ups and have them box it up? Can they pick it up from my place? It's nearly impossible to fit all four in the gto. I went on the fedex and ups website and was quoted an astronomical price of $200+ to have 4 wheels shipped. This sounds unreasonable as I've read some people being able to ship one wheel for about 20 bucks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

www.dhl.com

set yourself up an account (free), then just prepay online and drop it off at a DHL site (most of you mom n pop mail box stores will do DHL).

costs about $20-$25/wheel depending on wheel wight, diameter, and shipping destination

I just sent 4 wheels/tires off today. I went to Officemax, got 4 of their biggest boxes, which fit my wheels. Wrapped them in bubble wrap and dropped them off at my friends. Now my friend is shipping them with his business account, so it only cost me $110 to ship 4 wheels/tires from NC to IL UPS Ground.

But go to officemax, they have boxes. I think my wheels were 26" across and 9.5" wide.

Welcome. i was lucky enough to have a friend hook me up. Good luck!

Before this I didn't want to ship them, but it was actually fairly easy!

It may be best to ship in 2 boxes of 2 wheels rather than individually. check the weight for each package with your carrier of choice.

My suggestion is try DHL first.

For packing, tape cardboard over the face of the wheel and if you can a couple of layers of cardboard around the edges of the rim. Then you can bubble wrap.

check out these packing instructions:

Do these wheels have tires mounted? If so, cut some circular pieces of cardboard out, slap 'em on the front and back of each wheel, and wrap the wheel with industrial type "saran" wrap. Ship via your favorite transportation service.

I have shipped two set of wheels and tires from Phoenix to Texas and Florida via DHL and they were fine when they arrived. I use two layers of cardboard front and back just in case they get banged around. The first set to Texas was $140 and the second set to Florida was $190.
