Need thoughts on Goodrich KD's for the GTO. I noticed that GTPPrix had some in his sig. and was wondering what he thought of them.

Great dry weather tire. Not necessarily a bad rain tire. Just a bad tire when you hit a good sized puddle. If you can give up a little dry handling but get more rain handling, get the KDW. The KDW has more grooves & will hold more water when you cross a big puddle. Be warned, though. I had a set of the KDWs on some Billet Specialties wheels, hit a pothole (not big enough for me to notice), & had a bent spot on the rim. Maybe it was the aluminum in the rim, maybe the stiffness of the tire. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/SCCAGTO/dun no.gif

How hard did you drive your Z? How were they at that point? I suppose we should say that we are giving our opinions. Everyone's ass feels performance differently.

Thanks guys.. I am looking at different tires and I liked the KD's as one type. I also was interested in the Kuhmo MX's. Thanks again for the input..

pretty hard. i cant imagine anyone liking the KDW better than the GSD3. the only thing better about them performance wise is the stiffer sidewall. but on 18s that wont be as much of an issue.

As much as I hate to say it, I kinda prefer Bridgestones. I ran a set on my miata that were pretty good. Comfotable ride, good grip. I also like Kumhos. Haven't had their "standard" performance tires. I had Ecsta V700 autocross tires. I liked them very much.

Were they the S03 poles?

No. RE750s. For those of us who want an inexpensive tire (relatively), Bridgestone builds the Fuzion ZRi. They should make them in 17" GTO sizes.

I am also looking at the Falken 451's. A dealer here is working to get my business.

Had those too. Good grip & rain treading ability. NOT worth the price, though. Around here, 451s cost about $50 more than BS's.

I have Falkens in 17" all season and 18" summer performance for my GTO. I would recommend them.

I presume those are FK-451s. Not ZE-512s, right Bob? The 512s just don't have the dry grip I like.

Have 235/40/18s on Armano Maybachs on my Vibe GT. Excellent grip in both dry and the wet, but pretty noisy. I'd still buy them with any aftermarket wheel I get for my goat. Also, the local Discount Tire quoted me $210/ea for 275/30/19 vs. $280/ea. for Nittos.
