I saw that one of you guys has (forget who).
I think I'm going to have this done when I fix up the exhaust and was curious what results you guys have seen.

Well, not exactly...I have an H-pipe.

The SLP setup is somewhat an "X" pipe. :D

I recently had my GTO's exhaust redone. X - Pipe to single chamber flowmasters, split rear exhaust with twin tips on each side. Sounds great and the x - pipe makes the shifts seem quicker as the flow is cleaner. Rear bumber was modified for split exhaust. Will post pics when its dry outside and the car is clean.
I'm thinking of getting one. Or maybe having the stock H pipe made functional. Anything to pick up more low end torque :)

I have a custom twin 2.5" pipe with a custom x-pipe with no mufflers. At the time the guy at the shop didn't have bullets so i went with no mufflers. Sounds really nice and clean at wide open, not to loud other than that. I have pics if somebody wants to host them.

I've been doing my own investigation between H and X pipes. I talked to a muffler shop here who does a lot of race car exhausts. He said the H-pipe is good for low end torque, the X pipe builds torque at the higher RPMs. I plan to do an X-pipe in place of the resonator.

04 GTO- first I opened up the H-pipe and cut open the two exhaust pipes to make it a functional H-pipe. Quieter, more mellow sound, slight SOTP torque increase. Then I cut out the whole H-pipe and replaced it with an X-pipe. Made it by first making two Y-pipes, cutting them and welding them into an X, almost a two into one section, then back into the factory exhaust. Even quieter, more mellow, more torque.

You mean you're going to do an x-pipe that spans the two pipes where the resonators were? Usually, you'd just put it where the faux H-pipe is...where teh pipes are closer together.

The 05 has a single resonator right after the CATs. It's a dual in - dual out. Perfect place to put an x-pipe.

The arrowhead performance exhaust has an X pipe they have pretty damn good dyno numbers too! I am purchasing thier Side exit exhaust kit from the manifold back. Just gotta gather up the cash to do so but from what I see its a great system and they have awesome customer service. Tell Jeremy ANDREW sent you !!!

I just called my local muffler guy here in San Diego, he told me he can replace the stock resonator with an X-pipe for $120.00. Wonder if that is a good deal? Leaving the rest of the exhaust stock of course.

Sounds about right. The x-pipes are expensive for some reason. I love the way mine sounds...not too loud, or too quiet. No rasp or drone...perfect. I also added magnaflow bullets, see sig.

I have some experience with an X-pipe from my 69 Camaro (Still waiting on delivery of my 05 goat). I too will be replacing the stock resonator with an X-pipe. Don't expect much of a SOTP gain, as I really don't believe the X or H make enough of a difference to feel (just me, I guess I'm too used to 575 hp). However, the main benefit IMO, should be sound quality from the X as well as equalization of the firing pulses. Eventually, when engine mods are made, the X will smooth the idle, and quiet things down. Definitely get the X in SS or coated, as the back section of the X gets hammered with exhaust and corrosion....mine have wroughted before. Certainly, an X is the way to go...much better than H pipes. Just ask the Nextel Cup guys. They would not use them if they did not work.

How did you open up the H-pipe, did you get a shop to do it?
