I'm about to get a set of wheels made. I'd love to run a 255 or 265 up front. I'm stock height but will be buying KW coilovers in the future. I'm looking at an 18 x 9 front and 18 x 10 rear. What would be my OPTIMUM off set.
Also, since i'm going to be able to determine my own offsets will I be able to go bigger then a 275 in the rear?

8.5" on front isn't too bad (typically 35-40 offset), the one person I know of with 9" front (swmn) uses 40 offset {fender flare cars excluded}. I'm working on this myself, 255/40-17 on 17x9 +42, and I'm planning on slotting the strut bracket holes (to allow the bottom of the strut to be shifted inboard ~1/8") along with Noltec 12mm offset strut top bushings. It might be wise to wait until you have the coilovers and you can check exactly what your clearances will be. Also, tire clearance at the fender lip starts to become an issue, especially with lowering springs. Check out this thread, with my suspension/wheel/tire plans, and follow the links in item #5 for work done by others.

Here's another thread, with the "single ramp test" to get an idea of tire clearance when the suspension is compressed. Crisisman suggested allowing another 1/2" of clearance since this isn't necessarily the same as a 0.9 g corner.

Ideal offset in the rear seems to be around 52-53mm. A few people run 285's on 10" CCW's so it is possible, but lowering works against this too. I think ddawson has this setup with King springs, but I don't remember if it's dropped.

I believe Berjet has something very close to this setup. I also believe he is running a 265in the front. Maybe he will chime in with some info. I'm still playing with my adjustments using the stockers.
