So I had a slow leak in my tire and brought it to town fair where they diagnosed the culprit...a nail! Got the tire fixed and had them do an alignment all for 79 bucks...not bad tire was fixed under warranty
So during this routine maintenance they found that my (now) right rear wheel is slightly bent. This is not a good thing. I could feel it make the steering wheel shake slightly but could have also been lack of air in left front tire.
At any rate here are my options: find a used wheel on here or ebay to swap my tire on to (17" wheel)
or, and this is more appealing to me honestly, in september/october when I need new tires anyhow get a new set of tires AND rims and drive stockers w/ bent rim anyhow during winter or even get a new replacement anyhow
Reason this may work out economically is that w/ 22,000 miles on 3/4 tires and 1 new tire w/ like 3,000 miles on it (got it cuz one tire got flat and was not repairable...man I love TF's warranty) I could basically get a wheel packge w/ 3 Toyo Proxes4 and alignment and lugnuts for close to what it would cost for just new tires in a way.
I would get 17" rims..and I know I will get flamed for it, but I like the ride on the 17"s better, the wheel wells are so tiny our 17"s "look like 18"s" and the 18's look like 19's if you catch my drift. I like some 5 spoke Konigs in a dark gunmetal color w/ the same toyo proxes 245/45/17 tires.
I also don't want to have sacrifice ANY width on my tire, and it seems many people going to 18"s have 235's ALSO, even if I went w/ 18"s and a 245 or greater...I still want the same ride height and don't want any rubbing.
So give me some suggestions for wheel tire combos in the 17/18 range w/ A FOUR SEASON tire like my toyo proxe4's in a 245+ width that won't rub and that are in dark grey or black.
Thanks,
