I see factory wheels that are chromed and offered for sale/exchange on E-Bay. Have any of you guys done this?? Is the plating on the wheels as good as it looks in the pictures?? Also, did you have any problems with the seller,(bogus late fees, etc.)?? Thanks.

They will not last.

I bought my car with the wheels chromed by the Pontiac dealer in march 2004. The chrome on all 4 wheels is starting to peel on the inside of the wheel. The dealer told me this week that the company that did the job on the wheels said they were only warranted for 18 months or 18K miles. ...and no I do not drive in the snow.

I talked to a wheel refinisher and he said that in order to re-chrome them correctly they would have to be acid dipped to remove the old chrome. So it would cost about $400 per wheel + shipping and could get a 2 year warranty.

My other option would be to have them power coated in a chrome finish, that has a lifetime warranty.

I really hope you aren't gonna do it. $1600 plus original cost of rims and shipping just to have stock rims. or you could just as easily buy an extremely nice set of rims.

Check out post #18 on the below link. But for $125.00 using California Chrome sounds like a good price.

If you looking to get stock chrome wheels I'm thinking about selling mine. They are 17" factory chromed. I just hit 18K miles on them and there is no sign of peeling of flaking. I have hi-res pics of them if you are interested.
