So by next month I am gonna buy a new set of tires for my gto. I have stockers on it now ,and I drive my gto a lot and have a lot of long trips on it. So I am looking for a good set of tires that also get good traction , and I will get plenty of milage out of them. The tires I have looked at are

Goodyear f1 gs d3
nitto 555

I have read a lot about all the different tires for the gto and wanna go with the same size all the way around. I am thinking that the 245/40/18 will fit with no problem am I right ? or could I maybe get some 255's in there ??? thanks for the help

well the i would go with the goodyears they have a better tread life then the nitto's but for grip i think u can say they are tit for tat.

245 maybe, but risks strut rub. better off just sticking with 235s. 255=strut rub. dont know about the tires, dont have any experience with any of those.

I have heard that the 245's are suppose to be good from what I have researched on here. I have not been able to find some good sheets on the nittos what are people on here getting out of them ?????

well I drive my car about 90% intersate and I have got 21k out of the stock suckstones ...I do drive it hard sometimes but not alot and I have DR for the strip when it goes. We get about no snow here and it wouldnt see it ne way. So would I be safe to say I should get about 15k out of the 555's, or should I just suck it up and pay the money for the f1's ???

well i did drag the car a lot with the nitto's so u have to put that in fact so u could get about 15 to 20,000 out of them if u drive on the hwy a lot. far as riding go's the nitto's i had road pretty good and did not make a lot of nosie.

I have the GS-D3s, and they are one of the best all-around (in NorCal) tires I have ever used. If you spend any time driving in the rain, you will be impressed; they are also very quiet. Don't expect traction in the snow or freezing weather, but they are a great "Summer" tire.

235's are too small. If an alignment is needed after putting on 245's its completely worth the trouble.

well the car doesnt get out much in the rain at all anymore. I just want something that will stick in the corners and on the straight away when I do get on her a little bit

If you can afford it, get the GY's. I had them on my last car and I LOVED them. Gripped like nothing else I've owned. I'm running 555's on my GTO, (with 555r's in the back about to be swapped for some 555's) and they are better than stock, and the price is right for me. I've got about 6k on the fronts and they still look new.
