rim stripes...

Yay or nay? My factory 18s are coming back in a day or so, I had them painted all gloss black. I'm thinking about doing a very thin red rim stripe on the outer edge. The stripes are $30 or so, and if it looks like shit I can just pull them off anyway.

Oh and if that was a serious question...I had the rims sprayed for $100 a piece. That includes all the prep/materials, tire removal/mount/balance all that jazz, and spraying the lug covers. I was just going to buy aftermarket rims but the car got hit and was going in the shop anyway.

i did that on my previous car and we just did it on my friends 300zx too.

i think it would look pretty good...i know that when i paint my stockers black that im gonna try a yellow pinstripe and see if i like it or not. just give it a try since pinstriping is only a couple bucks


btw...you payed ALOT to just get your wheels sprayed. it averages between $50-100 around here to get your wheels powdercoated. post some pics up if you can though!

Powdercoat is around 100 a piece for a wheel without a tire around here. $100 is also the max price that the shop gave me over the phone...if the rim was crudded up and needed a lot of prep work. My 18s are perfect so it should end up being less. If all goes well I'll have the car back tomorrow afternoon and I'll put some pics up.

Just talked to the shop, the insurance co over-estimated the damage and they're putting the extra cash towards the wheels and bumper...I'm paying $250 for the wheels and bumper insert now.

That's funny because the pics of your rims are what made me decide to get mine done in black.

I picked up the vinyl striping today, they only had it in 1/8 inch width. I'm not sure if the 1/4 inch would look better, or even fit properly with the spoke design. I'm picking the car up in the morning, then will try striping them when I get home from work.

The rims came out so awesome, they reflect way more than the factory pbm paint. Shot with garbage cam phone because the gf left with the good camera. Probably to shoot porn or something.

I can't seem to find the right color, so the stripes are on hold. I bought regular red, tomato red, dark red...all are so mismatched compared to the center cap. They look red in the package, but orange as soon as I get them on the wheel. Dark red ended up purple...figure that one out.
