Okay, so I take the car out tonight and put it through its paces. On six hard launches no rubbing or other problems at all. BUT, this POS still lights them up with ease if you go WOT off the line. So, the whole point of getting them is a failure. I'd have to burn them to sticky glue to get them to hook with the torque. I can do that with 275s.
Now, here's the bad part - I got confident on the way home from my "test area" since there was no problem on relatively level straight road. I launched hard at a stop light and as I reached the dip on the far side the car upshifted. With this magnacharger this is a generally energetic event. That, coupled with the dip, caused maximum suspension compression on the driver's side rear and it sounded like a hand grenade went off in the driver's side back seat. Get home and check it out and the suspension (even with the drag bags) compressed far enough to allow the body/bumper cover joint to contact the tire momentarily and gouge some chunks of rubber out of the outside line of tread about 2/3 the way around the tire. Tire life and safety is not compromised. Will post photos tomorrow.
Verdict = They fit under the fender; suspension is good except where maximum compression can occur; traction is not improved appreciably. Girlfriend hates larger tires.
Solution = my loss is your gain. I'm selling these - hopefully locally, but willing to ship if you pay. Left is perfect, 7 hard launches on tire, less than 40 miles = $150. Right has chunks missing (I'll post photos), 7 hard launches, less than 40 miles - $100. (Put this side on the inside and you'll never know its there.) If you're interested, make an offer - I'm willing to entertain them.
Also for sale, stock 17 x 8 wheels with BFG 275 Drag Radials. Seen moderate use; probably half life left. Say $150 each? Will post photos tomorrow.
See you guys later!
