So I just thought I'd post a little help for the guys out there who've sustained any scratches on their OEM rims. I had the misfortune of having NTB (never ever going there again) put surface scratches all over my 4 rims and am in the process of getting my money back for the install. Anyway, I decided I'd try to fix them myself and can say I think I did a great job. The fix....Turtle wax polishing compound FTW. I spend about 2 hours all together polishing the surface scratches, then followed it up with some wax to protect them. Every single scratch came out....I couldn't be happier.

If any of you have any surface scratches on your OEM rims...this works hands down.

haha, yeah I wish I had before and after pics, but I don't. You really need to trust me on this. It works, just need to take your time and throw a little elbo grease into it. I honestly think they look better now than when they were new. The polishing compound really "brightened" up the color and really makes the paint shine, whereas they were pretty dull before. Once I hit it with some wax, they really started to jump out at you.

you can do this with the 04 rims since they arent clearcoated right??? i dont know how well this would work with the 05-06 rims.

Yeah, no clearcoat on the 04's. The 05-06 apparently have clearcoat on them, but I would assume it would work just as well if the scratch isn't deep since it says it's safe for all finishes. Effectively it would just polish up the scratch in the clear-coat. It's worth a try on the 05-06 rims though.

Thanks for the tip. The monkeys at the local tire place scratched all four stock rims on my Maxima when rebalancing. The guy got careless & crazy with the sandpaper when prepping the area on the back of the rim for stick on weights. I'll give this a try.
