Got a new tire put on today after having one go flat and then blow out on me last week. Had Discount Tire mount and balance the wheel and noticed a chip in the paint on the wheel. Of course they said it was me and I said it was them... and we got nowhere.

It's fairly obvious looking at the wheel and it bugs me. Has anyone ever touched up a chip on their painted wheel? If nothing is available, I guess I'll put some clear nail polish over it to keep it from chipping more... the paint isn't very thick at all on these wheels.

Thanks.

Go to oriellys and they have a gun they can use to scan the paint. They can then mix the paint for you on the spot and it should be a perfect match. Once you get the paint clean the area on the wheel with rubbing alcohol. Then break a tooth pick in half and use the broken area to pick up some paint and dab it into the chip.

what if you don't have an oriellys around you? I'd like to get some too for a chip

PaintScratch.com has the silver wheel color available. Look under 2005 GTO.

Autozone/kragen etc carries gm silver touch up paint that matches really well. If your expecting perfection have them refinished.

I plan on buyign a set of wheels in the next year, just looking for something to get me through.

Thanks Slammin86 for that link!
