Hey All,

If you are listing a part or a vehicle for sale within the For Sale section here are some suggestions on how to list it and receive maximum success.

Titles:

List a FS: or WTB: in the title.
-FS is For Sale
-WTB is Wanted To Buy.
-WTT is Want To Trade.

These things will allow the casual browser to know right away if you are offering or looking.

Try to give a complete short description of the item in the description as well. For Example:

Proper: LPE Cold Air Induction Kit

vs.

Improper: Intake

In this instance the item could be construed as an actual Engine Intake or an Air Intake depending on who is looking.

Also if the item is very big...list your location to draw more attention from the local guys. If I wanted to turn off ANY buyer I'd just list that I was in Germany. :o

Lastly, avoid listing prices in the title. This is mainly to save me work. Once a thread is posted the average user cannot change the title of the thread, and you must PM me or other Admins to have it changed...for example if you drop the price of the item.

Body of the text:

Try to include as much information as possible. Include the 5 W's:

Who: ME
What: Selling my soul
When: Next Year
Where: Germany
Why: Never used it

Critical is WHERE especially for large objects as shipping will come to bear. Condition also plays a large part especially on items like tires that are wear and tear items. Include these type of details.

Other potential terms to include:

-NIB: New In Box
-OE: Original Equipment
-OEM: Original Equipment Manufactuer

Payment: VERY IMPORTANT to consider is what method of payment you will accept. Many people prefer to deal with PayPal as a form of monetary payment. However, be warned there are pitfalls to doing so.

www.paypal.com
www.paypalsucks.com

Paypal is quick and easy sometimes and is usually prefered by people that require a quick turn around on money or products.

The alternative obviously is to wait for a snailmail check or money order. Be aware that buying products from individuals who use third parties to process credit card charges is not only risky for the consumer, but that third party processing agency.

Next Topic: PACKAGING

I'll continue to add and modify this topic as necessary.

If I may add to this thread, pictures do wonders. Let's face it, everyone wants to see pics, especially if they do not live close by to see it in person. Pictures will help sell. One other thing is price........ Set a price, if it is negotiable, then say so. Get an idea of shipping weight so that shipping charges can sort of be determined. It will go a long way in helping to sell your items.

Would it be too much to ask for people to go back and edit their original subject line with the word "SOLD" when the item sells? Saves the rest of us the time of reading a thread on a bunch of sold items.

I've been slowly going through and deleting the threads over a year old. However, as more cars appeared on the road the more threads appeared here. Wife leaves next week. I'll try spending more time then.

May I suggest having the seller list a price as a mandatory thing? I'm a newb to the forum but a lot of forums require a selling price in the description because they don't want it to turn into a bidding war thing like eBay, etc...

Good Point...and good luck...
My humble suggestion...research the OEM (GM) list pricing and judge from there with NO reservations!

Most are fair on the prices and merely ask for 'fair' to stimulate that market! (E.G. The Radial Arm bushings are $250+ea OEM yet Pedders offers them @ $240 for the pair.)

I'm sure you know by now, but just post a link to the eBay auction, we'll check it out.
