Black CCWs on YJ!

[Oh4GTO]

Ive been saying it for a long time and finally got it done. The color I chose is a textured black. It came out semi glossed and the textured grain is very fine. The pictures dont capture the detail of the powdercoating. The guys at the powdercoating place said there were a few customers that came in while the wheels were out and everyone was amazed at how the wheels came out. I personally couldnt be happier. I was exstatic to how they came out because I wasnt sure what to expect. I love trying something different and I love the way they came out.

You should tint the headlights and fogs to complete the look. (are the fogs tinted? i can't quite tell.)

I used have them tinted but I couldnt see $hit at night. Very dangerous especially on the highway and in rain.

pretty much the same look my car minus the fender stripes and mine has stripes across the top.

im also on stock wheels though :-)

Now if you would have left the lip polished and just powdercoated the center than that would be Hawt!!
All black is for the cheap steel rims you see under hubcaps. IMHO

I didnt want to do the polished lip for two reasons. One, everyone has them on every make and model. Two polishing wheels is an absolute nightmare. This is my daily driver and my brakes are REALLY dusty. I dont htink they look like the steel wheels below hubcaps. These wheels are large, split spoke, and they have a lip. Thanks or the props.

Mines my daily driver also I don't let brake dust sit on my rims ever!
But mine don't seem to be very dusty or I just don't let it build up?

That's not what I'm saying AT ALL!
Black rims on a car w or w/o polished lips make the car seem lower meaner racier period.
Also makes the wheel visually smaller.

Front is lowered 1" and rear 1.25". Cut the shit out of my fenders but all is good now. Got new pics coming in a minute.

It's clear that you have a vision for your car and I applaud that. I like when people are doing their own thing. It's really not my style to be honest, but thats irrelevant.

I cant help thinking it would have looked better by doing a shadow chrome finish on those ccw's it would still have been darker, but it would have highlights to better define the great shape and style of those wheels.

Yeah flying is a blast. Ive met a lot of nice people and we always have a good time. I miss GA though where you can go and do whatever you want. My rear bumper ripped off when I ran into a really big puddle on an off ramp. It came off as one piece and riped out the bolts for the mounts. Its can be fixed but I dont have the money to do that and repaint as well. PLus fiber glass on a DD is not the best thing. I should be able to come to homecoming but thats going to depend on my schedule, ehich isnt all that great as of right now.

Thanks a lot. Darker tint is next on te list. I just done know a good place in the area since Im new here. Probably also going to do black lug nuts but Im worried about the color stripping when torquing the wheels down.

Thanks. The black chrome would have been awesome. I dont know where to do it and Im pretty sure I cant afford it either. The wheels actually come out darker in the pictures than they really are. Its very easy to see all the details from a good distance away.

I am 99% sure that the Grand Sport 'Vettes had the stripes going the same direction you have them, but only on the drivers' side. So you still did something different. I personally liked them and recognized them right away.

As said above you need black lugnuts. I like the new look! IMO polished rims and yellow dont really go together plus maintaining a clean polished rim is a PITA!!. You also need tint too (or darker tint), I think that will set it off perfectly. Nice ride!!

Tint is on the way. Im new to the area andn o one seems to know a tint shop that is good. Black lug nuts will also come except they are like $100. That can wait.

I didn't read every post, but I like everything except the rear tails. I think that the 06 tails with cleared turn signal (or whichever one is amber) would flow better front to back. Otherwise, I love the theme. Great job!

They look awesome. I want something like that on my QSM. I think they look much better black then they did polished. Polished wheels only look good on dark cars. Chrome wheels would look stupid on my QSM, so I want a gun-metal black chromeish color. I was thinking about geting the stock ones black chromed, but it is a very un-common curing process and so far the only person I could find to do it is to far away for me to chance it.

^^^ Thanks. There is also plasma coating that you can do. They look just like black chrome wheels except a bit less shinier and a little more darker.
