How many 05/06 GTO Owners are running either of these TSW Montage Chrome/Black/Hyper Silver 18" x 8" - 5 X 120 bolt pattern with 40mm Offset Wheels on their vehicles? Any and all replies would be appreciated on riding any handling with these installed on your vehicle. Thanks.

I don't have Montages, I really like them though. I almost got them but figured they were too similar to my stock 18's. I ended up getting TSW Mondellos in the size and pattern you asked about. The plastic hub rings they give you are ok, but not great. I still had a slight vibration with the plastic hub rings. So I got a set of CSiJason billet hub ring and they have been great ever since. Definately would make the purchase again. Here are some shots of them:

I have the thruxtons. Different design, same stuff. 18x8 40 front and 18x9.5 45 rear.

Ride and handling really depend on the tire choice.

Anybody else have mounting, balancing issues with their TSW Wheels?

Tire choice does make a big difference with any wheel. However, have you experienced mounting or vibration problems without the use of any Hub Centric Billet Aluminum Rings for your wheels to ride correctly?

I would get the rings while csijason is offering them. Vibration is hit or miss without them.

I use the billet rings and always had them, so I can't compare...just going from what I read on here.

Had them on my car before, they were nice. I would recommend that you used either the Bridgestone RE01R 245/40/18 for ultimate handling, or the RE960AS for All Season performance. Both have had many positive reviews in this forum.

The offset is +40mm not .040

Hub rings would be a good idea though.

I only noticed the vibration with the plastic hub rings on smooth roads at 55mph+. It wasn't near what unbalanced tires feel like. Depends how nit picky you are, but for me the billet hub rings were a good purchase. No balancing issues though.

Thanks for the info, as I have a PM into CSiJason and waiting for him to get back to me on the Hub Centric Rings for this application. I really do not want to go to all the expense for any surprises of a vibration etc.

Rob, other than CSiJason, where can I find a set of 4 Billet Aluminum Hub Centric Rings for these wheels?

Check out this thread:

Link to my recent thread on my Montage wheels... (http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181 677)

I have the hyper silver and they are very polished. I think the chrome would be too much bling. The hyper silver look to me like highly polished aluminum. I love the look. I put Kuhmo Ultra high Performance all weather tires and feel no loss of performance from the stock 17s. It took me two months to finally decide on wheels and I am happy with my ultimate decision.

Does anyone know of anybody who makes the Billet Aluminum Hub Centric Rings for the TSW Nogaro/Montage Wheels for the 05/06 GTO's ? Any and all help would be appreciated, as I do not want to use any cheap plastic ones that will eventually melt or break apart from the extensive heat the brakes throw off.

James Biz may be making hubrings, not sure though.

Well since your other thread was closed...I've had TSW thruxtons on my gto for a month or so. I have csijason's billet rings, zero vibration. Also, the rear 18x9.5s with an 11" wide 275 yokohama are significantly lighter than a factory 18 with the stock bridgestone 235s.

My car is a daily driver and I can't bring myself to spend $2500 on a set of wheels. If I curb a TSW or dent it up, big deal. There goes $200. I would probably cry for days if I curbed a ccw.

I am very much enjoying my Montages. Look great - for me the original 17s were just too chunky looking. Also like my Kumho Ecsta ASX tires. I mostly like the car they are on, though! Vrrrrooooooom!

Hey Jim346,

I have been dying to buy a set of 18x9.5 Montage for my goat... but have been afraid they won't fit!
Did you have to roll the fenders?
If you would please give me the details and exactly what tires your running...

THANKS!

rears were 18x9.5 with 275/35/18's and Pedders Drag Springs, Fenders needed to be rolled, but did not rub after that.

I assume the springs make it stiffer and give more clearance?

any chance they will fit without springs and just rolled?

That is what bugs me so far, once someone quits making the hub rings it becomes almost impossible to get them to insure that a set of wheels will ride properly on the GTO.

As far as worrying about damaging a wheel I dont worry about it. I think I may of have curb checked a tire maybe less than 10 times in my life so that is not something I really worry about. Plus the wheel can be fixed or replaced if it has to be.

Wy Trkr I hope you can get the help you need, for some reason I thought you had already bought the wheels and had them on the car already.
