I can't believe I didn't start the title with "welp..."!

The T.O. thread got me thinking about this. Kind of divisive topic, but let's hear from the GTO crowd.

My take: The touchdown celebrations, and celebrations in general have just gotten out of hand. They used to be kind of cool (Icky shuffle, etc), but now they're just ploys for attention from egotistical pricks.
Bottom Line for me - football is a team sport, and nobody ever got to the end zone without help from 10 other guys.

I love guys like Marvin Harrison, Tim Brown, Jerry Rice. They played their positions well, and never did anything as remotely arrogant as TO and Chad Johnson.

Fine those guys 50 grand a pop, and it would stop real quick. I think we just need to bring back the superbowl shuffle !

I agree it got out of hand, but without it, the game is missing something. I put it in the same category as a hockey fight - I don't necessarily "like" it, but when I don't get one, I'm disappointed.

Can't stand them either- rarely creative and done by attention whores.

There's a reason why the NFL doesn't like celebrations in general- look what happened last year in the playoffs between the Chargers and Pats when the Pats players were mocking Merriman's retarded sack dance: there was almost a fight.

Same thing with TO getting smashed at mid-field on the Dallas star when he was with the Niners. I think Teague should've ripped TO's helmet off and bashed his skull into the star. Whatever Cowboys player (or any player in the NFL) wasn't offended by that should've handed his jock strap over to the equipment manager.

25 seconds, do what you want short of touching another player. make it funny. What i'd REALLY like to see is a LB wreck a QB, and while the QB is down the LB pulls out a sharpie and signs the down QB's helmet. That would be A-W-E-S-O-M-E

Old timers hate em but I love them, especially the creative ones. The ICky shuffle sucks compared to today's antics. I liked Prime Time better than the shuffle.

Leon Lett's TD celebration against Buffalo in the Super Bowl was AWESOME!!!!

Too bad he started the TD celebration before 6 points were added to the scoreboard.

****ing dooshes have been making asses of themselves for years, it's not just "old school" fans that could care less for this crap. Again, athletes that do this are ATTENTION WHORES and think they're :-pimp: . Todays hip-hop=TD celebrations < my diarhhea. :soapbox:

Most of the players doing the celebrating are attetion whores and it's verging on unsportsmanlike conduct.

I think it's funny as long as te guy that I'm rooting for is the one doing the celebrating. I officialy have a double standard.

That being said.... I'd love to see Marc Bulger get knocked to the ground and his helmet get signed.

I love TD celebrations.

But since you said its a team sport and it takes 10 guys to get into the endzone, would you rather have this :

Classy. But you know pro FB and BB have become nothing but video games and trash sports that the video looks normal.

QFT. At the very least it should be a personal foul for unsportsmanlike conduct. These guys are not paid as entertainers. They are paid as athletes, to make plays and win games. Touchdown celebrations are like the player saying, "Hey, look at me! I did my job!"

I love guys like Marvin Harrison, Tim Brown, Jerry Rice. They played their positions well, and never did anything as remotely arrogant as TO and Chad Johnson.

A+ players with class. :judge:

his eyes look like that because he's looking for "the man" to come down and repress his antics

that being said, I think they have gone way over board. no props or disgracing the other team are ok by me.
