View Full Version : Where to purchase wheel spacers?

After searching, I could not find a recommended type or purchase source for wheel spacers. I have stock 18" wheels. Any recommendations for folks currently using spacers?

Also, am I able to use BMW 5x120 spacers?

Thanks for any assistance.

I got some from Summit(universal) to use with my C6 Z06 wheels.

.

yes - the flat ones - but they won't be hub centric - and many of them won't work together with hub rings either (like CSiJasons)
We also cannot use those slick hub centric spacers made for BMWs (by H & R and others) as the gto hub protrudes further than a BMW hub (around 15 mm vs 10 mm or so for the BWM hub).
Seems to me that the jury is split on whether you MUST be hub centric or not. Some ppl say they run without hub rings - and have no problems.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the lack of hubcentric spacers as an interim solution to get more camber on stock isn't an option. I've talked to Eibach, Krager, Excalibur Accessories and none have an answer other than going with universal. I don't want to risk it given that i'll be using them at the track.

Looks like i've got to wait it out for new wheels and/or the B&G Camber plates and coilovers.

Lots of ppl (including me) have run many miles with universal style wheel spacers (lug centric only) - with no problems - but you'll have to make your own mind up on that. Also, keep in mind that you can only go up to around a 5 mm spacer max (w/ oe wheels) before you'll need longer studs.

I have always heard that spacers could cause bearings to wear faster - same for non-standard wheels offsets / rim widths, big-ass 1+ and 2+ wheel sizing, sticky race rubber, etc - but that has never detered me from using them - when I needed them. If they wear out - Id just replace them - not a big deal.

I had the cheap cast spacers from Summit on my fronts until I got new struts in. I didn't have any problems with them being not hub-centric.

For normal driving on the road, i'd be fine, even with some of my "spirited" runs. It's the repeated stress put on the car during a weekend at the track that makes me uncomfortable. To BATMANs point, I'm not keen on learning things at triple figure speeds.

I gotta start saving up the money... Sorry kids, Dad won't be paying for your college.
