other than temps below 40degrees, you will get better performance from a summer tire

Yup my BFG KDW are a 100x better than the stock BFG KDWS tires in dry and wet conditions.

hows the road noise on those? my friend has 275/40/18 on his z28 and they are noisy. not lound, but a lot noiser than i want for a DD? and what size r u running?

I'm running 245 up front and 275 rear, with the new tread pattern. The tires are slightly noiser than the stockers at around 40mph and 70mph +/- 5mph but I wouldn't say they are a lot noiser or unbearable or anything like that and if you don't drive at those speeds you can't really hear them. Overall I'd buy them again 8k miles so far and I'm happy with the grip they provide.

Hellmonkey - just ditched my OEM BFG's and upgraded to the new Goodyear Eagle F1 all-season tire. While I have not had the opportunity to test in light snow yet, really like the grip in wet weather thus far. Also, as the GTO is my daily driver, the low road noise is nice as well. Anyway, just another tire to possibly consider - good luck on your search.

All seasons are a compromise that will not be the best at either summer or winter. For maximum performance you a set of both. There are only a few summer tires that I would consider, Bridgestone makes a decent R compound RE01R or something like that, Michellin's, and Yokohama Neova or supposed to be decent. Wet traction though, I don't know how they perform. My PS2s would probably work if they ever saw rain.

I have winter tires, got a set of damn near new blizzacks for 300. but for the other 3 seasons, i need something else. I had some yokos on my G/A and they gripped like hell, but 190 HP and a hell of lot less than 400.

it does get cold in northern IL even long before it snows, and i dont know what temps summer tires become crap.

I run aggressive summer tires from march-november. You'll be fine.

Wet traction is great. As said though...once the temps dip under 40 degrees or so they become slippery.
