Hey all, just wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone has ideas.
I'm getting a "Check Oil" message (accompanied by that same chime you get if you drive and the hand brake isn't completely down). I get the message only when I'm accelerating moderate to aggressive, beginning at around 4000-5000 rpm.
I did notice that if I'm just parked and rev the engine, I can keep it close to the rev limiter for several seconds without the message ever appearing.
I am suspecting it has something to do with the car being at a certain angle while accelerating, affecting where the oil is going. I recently had my oil changed too (5w-30 mobil1 every 3000-3500) and the problem remains.
Of course I am not too familiar with the effect of being under load vs. free revving, leading me to also speculate it could be the oil pressure sensor, or maybe something else, which is why I present this question here.
I should point out this isn't the Service Engine Oil message, which I have been able to clear just fine. I did try the other suggested method of getting to the service menu and resetting, there's nothing present to reset at the moment.
This is a 2005 M6, no oil consumption issues, never have seen smoke of any color under full acceleration. (I had an LS1 F-Body prior with both of these symptoms.)
Thanks for any suggestions.
