Listen to George "Howdy Doody" Grande. He is the tv announcer for the Cincinnati Reds. I want to jump through the screen and slap him. Most people will know him as he does the inductions to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown....

Madden has got be on the list. He used to be really good when I was growing up. I think age has taken it's toll on him- he doesn't even know what he's babbling about anymore.

- Chris Berman (he needs to realize he's talking to mostly adult viewers, not 10 YO's. Probably should've taken over for Mr. Rogers when he passed away).
- Stuart Scott (his ghetto-fabulous lingo is annoying)
- Stephen A. Smith (Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson rolled up into 1 sports personality)
- All the casters that do the crap games (Ron Pitts- I think that's his name- for example)

There has got to be more, just can't think of them right now...

Here's probably my least favorite:

- Kevin Harlan (makes every play seem like it's the greatest play ever- he should be put on Prozac or something, terrible voice, annoying as hell)
- Any "homer" local announcer (I actually enjoy watching Braves TBS games due to them calling a fair game)

I like the way Sean Salisbury berates struggling QB's when he is the definition of failure of a QB. His career was mostly of a back up but he knows it all and says what other QB's should be doing when he himself didn't git er done.

"In the fall of 2006, Salisbury was suspended by ESPN for one week. Reports indicate that the suspension came as a result of Salisbury taking a photograph of his penis with a cell phone camera, and disseminating that picture to several female coworkers. The women were reportedly upset about the incident, and Salisbury was taken off the air for a period of one week as a result. The incident has remained quiet however, as ESPN has never released an official statement announcing the suspension."

I found that interesting. Can anyone say Lance Rentzel?

Baseball: Dave Campbell on ESPN radio is fantastic. Not sure who the play by play guy is with him -- but he's really good, too.

Football: Jack Buck and Hank Stram, when they did Monday Night Football on the radio a few years ago, were incredible. Absolutely incredible. Stram had this knack for predicting plays -- and more often than not, that's what the team would run. Bill King, of course, too.

Right now? Gary Plummer, the San Francisco 49ers' analyst. When they were playing the Steelers a couple of weeks ago, Plummer explained how one of the 49ers linebackers, who could drop back into pass coverage, got hurt and was replaced by a guy who specialized in pass rushing and couldn't cover. That explained why the Steelers tight ends were always getting open. Great insight. Great stuff. Too bad Joe Starkey, their play-by-play guy, is a whiny homer queen.

The Raiders play-by-play buy, Greg Papa's really, really good, too. I also like the Steelers' play-by-play guy Bill Hillgrove. Madden? A complete moron who should retire like that drunk Pat Summerall.

Hockey: The late, great Dan Kelley was awesome. Everybody now blows since Gary Thorne doesn't call hockey at ESPN now.

Totally agree...Gary Thorne was the man, despite the fact that he often would say the wrong player.

I cannot stand Mark May, Steven A Smith, as well as most college announcers.

i hate joe morgan and jim whatever, the two ESPN guys. why? because they're NATIONAL telecasters. they know pretty much nil about the teams they are attempting to cover. "boy pujols has a pretty good glove at first base, you may see him win a gold glove one of these days down the line". yeah no shit? you think maybe because he IS a gold glove first baseman?

i despise national telecasts. on top of the fact that they know nothing about the teams they are trying to cover (because their brains are crammed full of minimal knowledge about every team in sports), they show no bias, which PISSES ME OFF.

i remember this one in the opening day series against the mets, while the cards are on offense. "ground ball, can he get it? jose reyes makes the play, one....two... DOUBLE PLAY! HE TURNS A DOUBLE PLAY!"

me screaming at my TV: "**** YOU!!!!!"

i don't want the telecasters sympathizing and cheering for the other team.

FOX is pretty bad, too. if i had it my way i'd listen to mike shannon and john rooney every game, and i like KSDK's local telecast, but that's about it! if i ran a sports network, and i was going to put together a team of announcers to commentate the game, i'd get one national guy (NOT joe buck...), and one seasoned veteran from each of the teams' radio networks. every team in the league has an official radio telecast, with an old guy who used to play for the team, has extensive knowledge of the team, and has an amazing radio voice. for the cardinals it's mike shannon, for the brewers it was bob euker. get one from each team and a national guy. and this isn't to make it "fair", it's to make it entertaining.

I love Collegiate Football.... It seems no matter what game I watch Paul Maguire is commentating. Bob Griese is IMO the best ....but they put a flabber mouthed thinks he knows it all to match intellect with Griese and no matter how hard he tries he can't. He is constantly running his yap... I end up watching the game he is broadcasting in mute mode. God I friggin hate him. Another failure as a player but knows it all.

Goodell is banning pompoms cause it is distracting the pre-madonnas from concentrating on their game. The pre-madonnas are watching cheer leaders instead of running pass routes, pass blocking, run blocking, and hitting open receivers?????.... hmmmmm Kinda describes the Phila Eagles.

Tim McCarver is the worst, I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I know more than this dipshit. The stuff he says baffles me. Bill Walton is severely grating. Johnny Miller seems to announce every golf event I watch, and the same goes for him as does McCarver, what an idiot.

My favorite is Gus Johnson (Youtube him), he adds about 4 levels of excitement to anything he announces. I think he mostly does college basketball, but he should do everything. Any Bill Simmons (sports guy) fans in here? I think Madden is pure entertainment, he cracks me up. I also don't get why people don't like Jaws (Jaworski), he is the best analyst in football, bar none.

Lou Holtz sounds like a dentist is shoving a water pick into his mouth while he is trying to talk. Can't stand it.

Bill Walton is the most biased POS on TV. I'll never forget when he announced the Arizona-Illinois NCAA tourney game and his son was playing for Arizona. Couldn't stop talking about how shitty Illinois was and how golden Arizona was. Then Illinois won and he said how lucky Illinois got.

Phil Simms is a retard.

Any CBS Sunday day football announcer doesn't know what they are talking about.

Ron Jaworski needs to stop talking. It's painful to hear his voice.

Probably more, but thats all I can think of.

Joe Theismann -- hands down the worst. It has been over 20 years since he last played, yet he continues to talk like he is the center of attention. When they televise Redskin games and he is the announcer, I will mute the TV and turn on the radio to listen to Sonny Jurgenson and Sam Huff.

Tony Kornheiser is a good sports writter. Does not seem at home in the booth where he does not have a script.
