I guess you just can't have a "face of the franchise" player anymore.

Biggio = Everything that's right with sports
Boras = Everything that's wrong with sports
God bless Biggio and to hell with Boras.
i still hate biggio. no real reason, just can't stand him. OH, and that play in the september series last year when he clearly ran off the base path, and ****ing angel hernandez said he DIDN'T step off the base path, even though the replay CLEARLY showed that he made a 90 degree turn and even stepped foot on the grass (running from 1st to 2nd)....**** ANGEL HERNANDEZ
wait, what were we talking about?
i'm not going to read the article, but i really do like it when players stick with their own franchise throughout their career. even if they can't, i like it when a player knows to retire with the right team. jimmy edmonds sticking around to retire with the cardinals? awesome (but not in concrete yet). barry bonds getting ditched by the giants after his record breaking year but before he's done playing baseball? that kind of sucks. take all your barry bonds steroids hatred aside, it's a shame that he's played with that organization so long, and he's been such a huge part of the franchise and they are giving him the boot.
how many other "face of the franchise" players can you think of?

Yup. Definitely sounds like a Cards fan. Great points!

Did Biggio get to squat behind the plate one last time like he wanted to?

Yes he did, it was pretty cool. Brandon Backe pitched to him, who has idolized Biggio since he was a kid.
He even wore some old school catcher's gear to go with the throwback jerseys.

yeah it was cool to see him one last time behind the plate. Berkman is on his way to be a franchise player he has been with houston for awhile now.

He is the franchise player right now. Unless you're counting pitchers, then it's Oswalt.
