I said in another thread that I would post after doing this, so here goes.
I have Drift-Rs 18x8 front w/ 245/40-18 Toyo T1Rs and 18x10 rears w/ 285/35-18 Toyo T1Rs. I was gonna go with Bridgestone RE05A PolePositions but the OD on those was a little more than the Toyos, actual tread width was a little less on the Bridgestones according to the website. Toyo OD-25.7, width-11.2 REO50A OD 26.0, width-11.1
I had to cut a small section of the plastic wheelwell liner on the drivers side in the very back because it was hitting the tire on bumps. The passenger side is shaped differently and has plenty of room. I had my local bodyshop cut, smooth and paint the fender lips.(Quarter panels) The lips look and feel great. Couldn't tell if you didn't know.
Just had it done today and no rubbing so far. It's dark here now and I will be at a football game out of town this weekend, so when I get back I will give it more of a test to see if anything else needs to be done and maybe even post some pics. 285s look great on a 10in. rim and this car!:burnout:

Excellent, look forward to pics later. Did the body shop have to cut any of the welds out of the fender lip? Enjoy your game.

Honestly don't know. I didn't ask what all they had to do. They did cut alot out because I asked them to cut off as much as they could so hopefully I wouldn't get any surprises. He did say he could go a little further if I ended up needing it, but there's not alot there at the very top.

Oh yeah, this is with stock suspension. Car is not lowered and no dragbags. I know some people will need to know this.

These will not be auto-x tires though, staggered, no rotation, they would be gone almost as fast as my wifes temper if I did that. I should have some more new rubber for you at the next auto-x.;)

very cool...so if one is to lower the car, would the tires not fit anymore? let's say 1.5" drop front and 1" back...too much? Even with stiff suspension and spring rates?

I'm sure the Drift-R's will still fit but from my experience after going with that same exact set up you are talking about I cut my rear fenders. No matter stiff or soft.

245/40/18 fronts with 285/35/18 rears is the perfect combo for a powerful rear-driver. Gives a little more sidewall in the rear for a more progressive drift . . . LOVE IT!

Looks good! And I agree with PWR SHIFT, looks like a great DD combo. I think I have found my next tire size.

As of yet no. Only driven it a little, its not my dd. I've hit some good sized bumps and areas getting on and off of bridges and no rubbing yet. I will be gone this weekend, but next week I will hit the curvy, bumpy country backroads and do a parking lot sorta auto-x simulation to see what rubs if anything.

Seems to be plenty of room between the tires and the shocks. I havn't done any other work, as I said before suspension is totally stock. I will post if I have to do anything else. I've read where some guys with 275s on Drift Rs and maybe CCWs have rubbed some on the inner fender so I'm guessing I may end up with this same problem unless that is from that same plastic liner I already cut back on the drivers side. Think they were talking something that needs a little massaging with a big hammer though. We'll see.

Your body shop certainly hooked you up. That's cool. I expect you are going to have a leetle bit of rub at the parking lot auto-X. But if you can launch hard now with a full tank of gas a rear sway bar may be enough to get you back to the A-X course. Maybe. I can see your guy cut some serious material out of your fender well, but there is only one way to really find out ... Thanks for the pics.

I had three people in the car last night and running 60mph had some rub on a couple dips in the road. Looked today and it seems like I just need to cut alittle further back on the drivers side, front and back on the passenger side. Looks like some marks on the metal in these spots, from the rubber or the tire polish. Havn't seen any signs of rubbing on the inside. My car sits about 1/2" lower on the drivers side in the rear and from where the marks have been on the tires, seems my passenger side tire sticks out futher than the drivers side. I will be doing some suspension upgrades here soon but I want to eliminate all rub first, seems to be my mission.lol I think one more trip to the bodyshop will have that done .

I had to look at those pics again. I might be moving up the priority of widening my stock 18's.

Ya'll talking to me?
I had to trim a little more where the lip and bumper meet, after that I didn't have anymore rubbing that I could see. I have since installed Pedders 5/16" raise drag springs, GSR shocks and endlink bushings. I checked when the wheels were off for this install and saw no signs of rubbing. Gaps are even above the rear tires now and from what I've seen on the street, my wheel hop issues may be gone now. Alot more traction now than with the stock 235's. Can you believe it ?
I havn't been to an auto-x with this set-up yet and I probably will use my stock wheels for that anyway but I don't think it would be a problem. Anyway, it drives perfect on the street.
